ANOTR Steps Out of Their Comfort Zone on Second Album, ‘On a Trip’

Dutch duo ANOTR’s 14-track album On A Trip steps back from the club as the duo experiments with influences from their travels over the last two years.

Dutch duo ANOTR has had a busy past couple of years, from hosting their NO ART festival in places like Ibiza, Amsterdam, and Miami to releases on many different labels, like Solid Grooves, their own imprint, and many others. They’re an act in house music constantly pushing boundaries, and this continues with the release of their second album, On A Trip. The album blends disco grooves, trippy alt-soul vibes, raw post-punk energy, and upbeat indie dance beats into one.

Over the years, ANOTR has built a reputation for emotionally charged house music that resonates with a global community. However, the duo takes a bold leap into uncharted territory with On A Trip. The album is a deeply personal project, capturing a period of introspection and creative liberation that unfolded during a series of immersive retreats. From the serene landscapes of the Netherlands to the vibrant energies of Los Angeles and Ibiza, these getaways provided a haven for experimentation and self-discovery.

During these retreats, members Jesse van der Heijden and Oguzhan Guney (Oz) set aside the rigors of touring and industry pressures to focus on the core of their creativity. Surrounded by nature, friends, and fellow artists, the duo embraced the therapeutic power of vulnerability, using microdosing and deep, meaningful conversations as fuel for their musical evolution. This process enabled them to incorporate live instrumentation and even feature their vocals for the first time, adding an intimate, unfiltered layer to tracks like “SET IT ON FIRE.”

Collaboration is another essential part of the 14-track album. The duo joined forces with many artists like Leven Kali, Tyler Dali, and GRAMMY-nominated artist Cimafunk. Tracks like “Falling Feels Like Flying” with Kabusa Oriental Choir are examples of collaborating outside their comfort zone. Each track is as dancey as the next, solidifying a fun release.

To make the release even more special, ANOTR has set a global tour to highlight this album in a club setting. Having already taken place at ADE, the energy they posted on social media looked extremely unique at one of those shows. You can catch the ANOTR Presents On A Trip tour at Factory Town during Miami Music Week, at Savaya in Bali, and on many other dates in the first half of this year. The duo’s 2025 is just getting started.
