Legendary artist Rusko returns to the forefront of the scene with the release of “Wassup,” the lead single off his forthcoming EP, which is set to land on Monstercat.
When you talk about pioneers in the bass music scene, there’s no doubt that Rusko should be part of the conversation. From helping usher dubstep into the scene’s forefront to his recent adventures that have seen him return to his drum and bass roots, he’s continued to bring the heat and even beat cancer along the way.
The past few years have seen Rusko continue to tour the globe, taking the stage at festivals like EDC Las Vegas and Rampage while also dominating the decks at major venues like Red Rocks. Yet something missing over the past two years was a fresh solo release from the beloved artist. That’s now changed as Rusko dropped his latest drum and bass single, “Wassup,” on Monstercat.
“Wassup” was started last year on tour in Australia and ever since, has been a puzzle I couldn’t quite crack and get just right… but it’s always been stuck in my head. After adding it into my DJ sets, I had an earth-shattering break-through, and within the first couple of nights spinning the tune, it was finished!

“Wassup” is a powerful tune with horns that captivate listeners from the start before diving straight into a drop that’s pure madness. Wonky elements, vocal chops, and a frenetic breakbeat carry this tune forward, showing off Rusko’s signature elements and innovative style. “Wassup” also doubles as the lead single for his debut EP on Monstercat, which is set to drop in 2025.
