Oscar Mulero Cancels Remaining 2024 Gigs Due to Health Issues

“Due to medical recommendations, after the operation I will need to rest for a while,” wrote Spanish techno figurehead Oscar Mulero.

Oscar Mulero — a key personality in Spain’s techno scene with a career dating back to the ’80s — has called off all of his performances through 2024 as he navigates health concerns.

The DJ, producer, and PoleGroup Recordings label boss shared as much in an Instagram post over the weekend without going into the specifics. “Hi everybody, next week I will undergo a surgical procedure that I must go through, and due to medical recommendations, after the operation I will need to rest for a while,” Mulero wrote. “Therefore, unfortunately I am forced to postpone the performances I had scheduled until the end of the year.”

Among those shows are a November 9 collaboration between organizers 1/4 Escuro and Vault Sessions in Lisbon, and a November 16 gathering called CODE – Fabrik that would have seen him share the stage with artists like Rebekah, Ben Sims, and Charlotte de Witte. Then, the following month, he would have performed at Dalma Festival in Malta on December 6 followed by gigs in London and Paris on December 13 and 20, respectively.

Oscar Mulero first got into music by way of goth bands like The Cure and Joy Division before developing an interest in EBM groups like Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb. He landed residencies at key Madrid institutions like New World and Omen, and his career gained significant traction when he was booked to perform at the 1996 edition of Sónar in Barcelona.

Mulero and his team appear hopeful that things will return to normal for him in 2025. “Both my agency Source and the clubs and festivals where I was going to perform are working to find new dates for 2025, so we will meet on the dance floor very soon,” his statement closed out. “Thank you all so much for your support!”
