Hey Floret Loret! Thanks for joining us today for a chat. Your latest EP, Endeavors, was released last week. It’s another incredible collection of sounds that invites your listeners to explore new worlds. Can you walk us through your creative process? How do you transform these moments of escapism from your imagination into music?
Thank you for the kind words! I started out with “Seeu” and “Endeavors,” both of which I wrote within the same week, and they really brought out a new concept. The atmospheres and pads I crafted helped add to the “escapism” in the songs. Those, in my opinion, help push the track’s boundaries while drawing listeners into a new world. I’ve played several MMORPGs and RPGs, paying close attention to how the music adds more to the story and helps bring a world to life. This experience heavily influenced my creative process and helped me channel those moments of escapism into my music.
The realm of “Scarlets” feels like we’re navigating a forbidden territory, brimming with adrenaline. I’m curious: What imagery came to mind for you while creating this track?
I wanted to add a bit of contrast to the tunes but also have them fit with the EP’s theme. “Scarlets” is an aggressive tune that starts with a simple melody, which evolves throughout the song, then the breaks enter, then a highly anticipated build, and finally, that aggressive 808 melody for the climax. During the creative process, I was really focused on the color red, symbolizing aggressiveness and anger yet confidence and leadership. Interestingly, I was also playing Elden Ring during a boss fight and channeled my frustration into the tune.
Having the Deadbeats crew on your side for several releases, including your latest EP, must reassure you that you’re on a great creative path. When you first started your journey, did you envision receiving support from the tastemakers you have so far?
In the beginning, I couldn’t have imagined it ever reaching their ears, but somehow it did. Funny enough, Harrison reached out on my birthday after hearing my first EP, Tangled Roots. It still feels surreal, but I am incredibly grateful for their support over the years. Their support has played a crucial role in my career, allowing me to take risks and explore new sounds.
You recently joined in on the fun of participating in a live Reddit ama talking about electronic music. What was one of your top moments from the stream? Were there any highlights you’d like to share with fans who weren’t able to attend?
The AMA was an amazing experience! One of the top moments was interacting directly with fans and hearing about their favorite tunes. I enjoyed discussing the creative process behind some of my tracks and sharing insights into my music when I could!
It’s clear you are a lover of plants in the floral form, so tell us, what are your top favorite flowers?
I have several but the top three would be hydrangeas because it reminds me of my fiancée, red carnations for my mother, and my personal favorite, Moonflower, the night blooming flower.
Now that Endeavors is out for the world to hear, what is next for your project?
I’m going to keep writing and keep experimenting with different genres and sounds. I’ve been writing several chill garage-y style tunes lately that I might put out by the end of the year, but we’ll see!
