Boombox Cartel Shows ‘Proof of Life’ on Debut Album

Boombox Cartel brings the heat and showcases his diverse approach to production on his jam-packed debut album, Proof of Life.

When you dig into the artists who have helped make the bass music scene what it is today, Boombox Cartel needs to be mentioned. This trap god has made a lasting impression on the community over the past decade with releases that have landed on labels, including Mad Decent, Dim Mak, and his very own MONTA. But while releases like his two Cartel EPs have helped him stake his claim as a top-tier artist, a full-length album was missing from the equation. That’s now changed with the release of Proof of Life.

Out now via MONTA/Create Music Group, Proof of Life isn’t just another release from Boombox Cartel filled with banging tunes. It’s a testament to his creativity and dynamic range while further proving that he’s an artist who will continue to shape the scene for years to come. Trap-centric beats dominate the 18 tracks on Proof of Life, but his jaunts into the realms of drum and bass, midtempo, and bass house are also found along the way.

The title track leads the charge with a distorted bassline and soaring vocals from Lyves, while the guitar melody takes hold of your soul. This carries directly into “Hold Me” for a solid, emotional one-two punch as Boombox Cartel delivers the album’s sole drum and bass-fueled soundscape that will take your breath away.

Tracks like “Venture,” “Lowlife” with Nevve, “GUAC,” “Back Again” with Nessly, “Feel It 2” with FrostTop and Transviolet, “Bossed Up” with Guapdad 4000, and “Guide You” with MKLA all show off different sides of Boombox Cartel as he leans into everything from energetic beats to melodic-driven offerings. He also shines when he deviates from the norm on tunes such as the bass house leaning “SPEED RUN” and “Long day” or the midtempo-laden “Afterlife.” And if you want one song that will ignite a fire in your soul, give “Better off Dead,” his rave-forward collaboration with IMANU and Calivania, a spin.

Proof of Life is out now across all platforms. Follow Boombox Cartel on social media for more updates in the latter half of the year!
