Mat Zo Makes His Return to DnB with ‘Sine of the Times’

Mat Zo has taken his talents to Vision Recordings for the release of his latest drum and bass EP, Sine of the Times.

Mat Zo is a master of many different genres. Over the years, he’s flexed his production prowess on everything from trance and progressive house to electronica and dubstep, with standout releases on Anjunabeats, his own Mad Zoo imprint, and more. Yet, at the core of Mat Zo is another genre that is currently hotter than seemingly ever: drum and bass.

Turn back the clock over a decade, and you’ll find Mat Zo releasing drum and bass on Hospital Records and Anjunabeats under the MRSA alias, which has since seen new life breathed into it in recent years. His passion for the genre has continued to persist, and now he’s dropped his latest release in that realm, Sine of the Times, on Vision Recordings.

The four-track Sine of the Times EP shows Mat Zo’s pure power when creating dynamic drum and bass soundscapes. “It Might Be A Sine” kicks off the ride with computer blips and a repeated vocal hypnotizing the mind before swelling into an energetic drop that will leave you gripping for dear life as the punchy drums enter. A brief pause in the middle gives you a moment to breathe before everything is upped to the next gear in the latter half for even more madness.

“Splain” is the sole collaboration on this release, but it’s one of the most unique DnB songs that’s dropped lately. Mat Zo looked to Rohaan for the tune, and the two created an intoxicating blend of what could only be described as jazz and drum and bass. Found inside are horns, broken drum patterns, and jump up elements that keep your head bopping right along with it.

“Kamikaze Cosworth,” the EP’s lead single, is another stunner. Its relentless beat will smack you straight in the face as the seconds tick away. Those vibes continue on “You Are Here” as Mat Zo offers up a darker, more sinister soundscape that is packed full of pitched vocals, wicked bass, and so much more. You’ll be left feeling a bump in the night after this one graces your speakers.

Listen to Sine of the Times on Spotify or your preferred platform, and follow Mat Zo on social media to stay updated with his latest releases and more.
