Legendary artist deadmau5 has dropped “Quezacotl,” his first solo tune since 2022, and announced a new EP that will land on mau5trap later this month.
This has been quite a remarkable year for deadmau5. Not only has the legendary artist continued to perform at some of the world’s biggest festivals and beloved nightclubs, but he’s been celebrating the 25th anniversary of the project in style. The retro5pective shows he put on at Hollywood Bowl and Brooklyn Mirage tantalized his fans as deadmau5 ran through different eras, stirring up plenty of nostalgia. But something fresh was also featured during these performances: a peek at the future with his tune, “Quezacotl.”
“Quezacotl” is by no means a new track, as deadmau5 played it during the Day of the deadmau5 shows and at EDC Orlando and Countdown NYE last year. Yet it was prominently displayed during retro5pective, and he’s since played it at EDC Las Vegas and more in recent months. The track, his first solo release since “XYZ” in 2022, is a return to form for deadmau5 with its intoxicating blend of symphonic chords and melodic synths. These elements have marked many of his most beloved tracks over the past two decades, and “Quezacotl” is sure to have listeners soaring to new heights when they give it a spin.
That’s not all that deadmau5 has in store for fans this summer, as he’s also announced that some ep is set to arrive on July 19. On Discord, he confirmed to fans that the EP will contain four to five tracks, but that wasn’t all he teased as he said an album “should follow shortly.” “Been way too busy with travel / shows to really sit down and put a whole fucken album together so this should suffice till I get that time,” he said.
Additionally, deadmau5’s alter-ego, TESTPILOT, will also gain another release on July 12 when “WET” drops on mau5trap, a second track anticipated to be on the EP based on its album artwork.
Listen to “Quezacotl” on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for the some ep to drop on July 19.
