in Album Review

Get blissfully lost in the dreamland of Zingara’s imagination on her debut album, The Code of Dreamz.

Rising electronic artist Zingara is known for her fresh take on bass music. Her ability to intertwine multiple genres into one sound makes her stand out from the crowd in the best way possible. She infuses her tracks with a spirituality whose soundwaves connect with her listeners in a uniquely memorable way.

Zingara’s distinctive music and performances have captivated audiences at festivals such as Envision, Okeechobee, Lightning In A Bottle, and Electric Forest. Her following has grown quickly because once you hear her, you can’t help but come back for more. She has the track record to prove it, as she is near completing her third sold-out headlining tour.

Bringing her tour to a close, Zingara is giving her last stop at Mission Ballroom in Denver quite a treat with a Friday, June 7 release party for her debut album, The Code of Dreamz. What better way to go out with a bang than releasing your debut album just in time for your tour’s grand finale? And what a delight it will be, because The Code of Dreamz conceptualizes the beautiful inner workings of Zingara’s mind, from distant memories to familiar comforts. It perfectly represents her dreams being decoded in real time through music.

The concept of this tour and album is to fully embody my childhood dreams (my manifestations/future goals and the ones that take place while I sleep). Lots of shadow work and childhood memories have been popping up as I have been working on this behind the scenes creatively. So much transformation. I am obsessed with decoding dreams and I finally get to bring to life everything I have learned, seen and experienced into my music, visuals and shows.

Close your eyes and drift into a dream state as Zingara takes control of your senses.

An intro fit for meditation begins once “I Am” starts. You are swayed by instruments and heavenly voices until drums lead you to the first drop, met with electrifying bass surrounding you like a cocoon. A collaboration with Heyz, “The Power of Everything” is where ethereal meets darkness as the pair’s styles morph together.

Ruby Chase shares her talents on the title track. Float away to the silky vocals and shoot into Zingara’s dreamland, where your imagination can run wild with a beat to match.

Introspection lies within “Unlock Your Keys” and “In the Face of Your Shadows.” Both tracks display the perfect lyrics and soundscapes to induce a meditative state of self-reflection. Already appearing as a single, “Up is Down” has stayed slaying the scene with its addictive trance beat. Next, Austeria jumps in on “Time is Illusion” to lay down a collaborative powerhouse of warbled bass that eventually transforms into a dainty and soft embrace.

Clarity is right around the corner as you enter the second half of The Code of Dreamz.

It’s becoming clear because “Now You See” after Ujuu and Zingara awaken your third eye by smothering you in healing, airy frequencies. “The Stars Are Calling Me” features Jessica Chertock. Together, she and Zingara make the stars come to life with galactic bass elements tangled with beautiful vocals that will leave you lingering on each word.

“Close Your Eyes” as you blast off to the fastest tempo switch-ups of the album yet as blasts of robotic samples play along with rapid drums. “Look Inside” with leah weaver as this slower pace is the perfect departure from the previous track. Let Leah sweep you off your feet with each honey-drenched word she speaks.

Elephant Heart is here to end our delightful experience with a sense of community as you chant along in unison to “Welcome Home.” Curiosity wins as you can’t help but follow each quirky new sound that arises along this song’s runtime.
