ATB is gearing up to release his next album but has let his global fanbase know that it will be the last as he plans to focus on singles moving forward.
German trance producer ATB has created a legacy for himself that spans three decades and is filled with hit tracks and more. Albums like Two Worlds, Addicted To Music, Trilogy, and more recently, Contact and neXt have been at the forefront of his discography, backing his performances at some of the world’s biggest festivals. But as the tides of the dance music scene continue to change, ATB is changing right along with them.
In a recent Instagram post, ATB announced that his forthcoming album, due out in 2025, will be his last. According to the beloved artist, this is due to the current era of streaming and downloads, which have pushed albums out of the way in favor of singles and EPs. “With skip rates and algorithms, music has become a fast-paced commodity, rarely having the time to grow on listeners and transform from a seemingly insignificant track into a favorite song after multiple listens,” ATB shared.
This change for ATB follows a trend that other artists have begun to explore. Another notable contemporary who stepped away from releasing albums entirely is Gareth Emery, who released his last artist album, ANALOG, in 2022, but has since gone on to start new projects and perform.
Although ATB won’t be creating more albums after this final one in 2025, it doesn’t mean it’s the end of his 30-year career. Instead, he has reassured his faithful followers that he will continue to release singles and isn’t planning to stop touring anytime soon, with him closing the statement with “True to the motto of my current Summer Tour 2024: “DON’T STOP.”
