Feline Frenzy: Box of Cats Unleashes ‘Litterbox 16’ Compilation

in New Releases

The new compilation from Box of Cats is a near purrfect collection of tunes, just in time for festival season.

The aptly titled Litterbox 16 is nothing short of sonic catnip for dance music enthusiasts. Packed with tracks ready-made for the festival pregame party, Box of Cats drops yet another paw-some release in bass and tech house.

The compilation is littered with infectious rhythms and quirky, throwback sampling. Lucci Minati‘s “Groove of Cats” is a scoop of mystery with a detuned rave siren and an Addams Family bassline prowling through the mix. Adding to the nostalgia is Carlos Pineda‘s “MESSAGE DELETED,” a playful tune reminiscent to the days of dial-up internet and landline phone tones.

Box of Cats has never shied away from furnishing house music that is catchy and accessible. TRND raises hands in the air with “Run,” a big room, bass house anthem with a rolling bassline to suit the title. Techin uses trippy vocal chops and a skipping snare in “Cut It Back,” while V.X and AFTR All feature a gritty spoken word sample from Grim Barsman to compliment Latin percussion in “Worst to First.”

At the heart of the compilation is “Monsters Bonkers” from Bess Maze. This standout track offers a fresh take on the New York-inspired house music of the ’90s. Tails will wag when the quintessential house organ sneaks into the riff like a sleek panther, commanding attention to its hypnotic groove.

All good things must come to an end, and Litterbox 16 holds onto its most curious tracks for last. IOTA bravely risks production overkill with “Burn It,” fully committing to the complex sound design of his unique formula. To wrap things up, Matt Downie delivers “MESO,” a perfect closing track. The clever, ethereal frequencies subconsciously usher in a relaxing mood after 43 minutes of heavy hitters.

This treasury offers an incredible variety of music to keep paws tapping. From Latin-infused bass house to coveted techno territory, there’s something here for every cat lover. Curated for single track sampling or front-to-back playthrough, the 16th volume of Litterbox displays Box of Cats’ commitment to distributing absolute floor shakers.

Grab Litterbox 16 from your favorite streaming service or listen on Spotify. It’s whisker-lickin’ good!
