Barooka Storms the Scene with Debut EP

in Album Review

Barooka makes their name known with their latest frequencies on The Tundra – out now on DirtySnatcha Records!

It’s not often that a newcomer to the scene blows you away with their first releases, but Barooka is a different story. This duo has a chemistry that bleeds throughout each track they produce and translates to the listener patently. Although the pair is just in the early stages of their career, Barooka has already proven their heads are in the game. In 2023, they had festival appearances at Beyond Existence and Astral Abyss, and this year, they are set to headline Denver‘s beloved Black Box on March 29. The promise of a successful future for Barooka manifests within the passionate foundation they are building.

With all of the flattery being said, The Tundra is here to solidify the hype. The first body of work by Barooka has officially hit the airwaves and isn’t holding back a single ounce. This four-track EP shows off the dualistic powers that these two artists possess, and it’s layered within each track as the perfect representation of how fervid these two are about music.

Bundle up because you’re about to enter the subzero climates of The Tundra.

You enter the below-freezing climate as “iDistort” breaks through the barriers with force. Heavy bass and distorted warbled frequencies are slathered all over this initial track. Next, the name of the track title “Pressure” is whispered into your ear. The gentle female voice gravitates you to walk over the ice ledge and you begin to free-fall along to the high and low frequencies present.

Tearing up sound systems since its birth, “Screechboi” translates just as the name states. Ripples of otherworldly screeches ring out through this track with moments of delectable low-end breaks in between as a breather before the next attack ensues. Brace yourself because our final song, “Icepick” stabs you with its hard-hitting energy. The soundscapes pummel the listener left and right as the momentum takes you forward into an impressive slew of electric big bass beats with a vengeance.

Barooka has put in the hard work to prove they deserve your attention and The Tundra is just the beginning. From start to finish this EP provides ample examples of just how talented this duo is and we can’t wait to see what they create next! Listen to The Tundra on Spotify and follow Barooka on social media to watch their undoubted uprise unfold.
