Moby and Anfisa Letyago Land on Defected Records with “You & Me”

“You & Me” by Anfisa Letyago and Moby comes with remixes by Deetron, Girls of the Internet, and Moby himself.

Who had Moby collaborating with Anfisa Letyago on their 2024 bingo card? We sure didn’t, but we’re not complaining, either. The two teamed up to deliver a single titled “You & Me” by way of Defected Records, enlisting Deetron and Girls of the Internet for remixes.

In the original single, Moby’s Big Beat-reminiscent style pairs surprisingly well with Letyago’s festival techno influence. Warm basses and chopped vocals are underscored by syncopated UK garage percussion as a 303 arpeggio climbs its way up the dynamic range to sneak up on the listener. Soft piano keys frame angelic verses for a few fleeting moments at the crescendo of the arrangement.

Deetron reimagines “You & Me” as a soulful house music cut with a four-on-the-floor beat and inviting synth work. Girls of the Internet take a similar approach in their remix, albeit with lusher atmospheres and dreamy reverb echoes. Finally, Moby himself offers up a rendition of the source material with a more classic breakbeat sound and rich instrumental samples.

Moby (real name Richard Mellville Hall) has led a long and successful career in dance music, dating all the way back to his 1991 breakout single “Go.” He is as well known for albums like 1995’s Everything Is Wrong and 1999’s Play as he is for his animal rights advocacy.

Born in Russia and based in Naples, Letyago started DJing in 2009. As she built her reputation as a local artist, she began producing music in 2015, teaming up with Dutch talent Leroy Styles on her debut single, “Stop Talking” via Spinnin’ Records, in 2016. Her career has soared to new heights after the pandemic, taking her to stages across the globe and earning her collaborations with the likes of Carl Cox and Swedish House Mafia.
