Lab Group shares a new blend of unique talent on their second album, Lab Group II.

Lab Group is continuously mixing their talents together to concoct musical creations. Their inspiring ability to rearrange puzzle pieces to form new sounds is second to none. Although two of the founding members are no longer involved, the remaining crew still pushes what they started forward with a fresh outlook, all while maintaining the foundation that birthed their success.

Their openness to branch out to fellow artists on their wavelength who share their vision is exactly why Lab Group never ceases to level up to new heights. They’ve proven it by reaching several milestones within the last year including direct support duties for Rezz at the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in August. During the Red Rocks set they announced a headline event at the legendary Mission Ballroom set to take place February 23.

Finally, the time has come for one of Lab Group’s most notable performances of their career, and the lab techs have been hard at work. Proudly providing the perfect precursor of what is to come in 2024, they’ve dropped their latest body of work, Lab Group II. Listeners can hear traces of each member woven throughout this assortment of tracks. From loverboy energy to hyped-up tempos, this album has a bit of everything that represents Lab Group.

Fall into the mind of Potions as the first track sets the stage for Lab Group II.

Nothing good can come without “Sacrifices,” and this intro allows you the space to ponder that thought. A blend of angelic tones is met halfway with some grounding bass drum beats gently nudging you into the album. Potions and tiedye ky joined forces to create three of the album’s tracks. “Zoom In” already caught attention as an early release as it’s the musical equivalent of a mosh pit.

More hype energy comes courtesy of the two’s next creation, “Corpu,” which makes listeners feel like they’re spinning in circles like a dog chasing its tail. Their final collab, “Lost Me,” stands out as the most emotive track on the album. The loverboy is back, and he has another heart-wrenching ballad paired with a gentle delivery of buttery smooth vocals layered over a whimsical Potions beat. It’s safe to say our hearts didn’t stand a chance.

Player Dave teamed up with JAWNZA on “HD,” a strong candidate for song of the year. The confidence and swag of this track’s lyrics are liable to cause a riot on the dancefloor. Player Dave worked solo on “Morph” and “Indecisive,” two tracks smothered with the artist’s ambient touch. He skirts with the line between joy and sorrow in these two soundscapes, leaving listeners in a limbo of emotions.

Ruku makes her grand appearance to end the album on “Holy” along with tiedye ky and Player Dave. The back and forth between Ruku and tiedye ky will make butterflies flutter in your stomach as they serenade you into the clouds as sunrise is painted within the gentle soundscapes.

The vast talents each of the Lab Group members possess shine through Lab Group II. Together, they’ve made good on their mission to be a “research group that works through the common goal of creative expedition in search of a defined serenity block.”
