The wait is over for Innellea’s debut concept album, The Belonging, a package that provides the courage to walk through a crisis and into open arms!
Innellea has officially brought his debut album into the world via his imprint Distorted Youth, in collaboration with [PIAS] Électronique. But The Belonging is not only reserved for the dancefloor. It was produced with a purpose: to encourage people to lean on one another in their darkest times.
Innellea pointed out, “As personal crises are part of life, we want to go through this journey collectively, from a silent, burned-out state of, where do we belong.” With reassuring words, he goes on to say, “Together, we’ll go forward forever through all the insanity, until the certainty that we belong here.” As each track unfolds, listeners may feel a little more seen and a little less lost in their isolation.
Innellea got a jump on the collective healing process by offering up a handful of tracks, behind-the-scenes vlogs, and music videos ahead of the full release. Maybe the most special to arrive was “Silence” featuring Maurice Kaar. It was tied to a singing competition. The prize? One lucky vocalist would get to accompany Innellea on tour and perform the single on stage. The submissions were so amazing that he ultimately chose three: slimrhl, Sioma, and Nick Schwenderling.
Schwenderling is hearing impaired, so instead, he impressed Innellea with his incredible piano talents to nab the win. Last week, he was the first to make magic with Innellea and Maurice Kaar during the tour kick-off at Kesselhaus in Munich. As Innellea and friends prepare to take over Cairo and Istanbul this weekend, there are ten more tunes to hear before stepping into the dance space.
Beginning with the introspective “Where Do I Belong,” listeners will feel an instant connection to the producer. These are thoughts we all deal with, and Innellea put them under a magnifying glass. From here, he generates an ebb and flow of comfort and rage, reaching out to all types of music enthusiasts with the flavors of hip-hop, indie rock/electronic, and drum and bass, in addition to placing his melodic techno stamp at the forefront.
After we meet a trusted cast of musicians including Flowdan, Colyn, CamelPhat, Monolink, Jay Starr, and more, the slow and soft thump of “There’s Another Me” featuring Aparde brings the self-explorative experience to a close. It’s a tear-jerking song that pushes the observer to walk forward in life with a fresh perspective. You’re not your failures, and you don’t have to decay in your pain. Focus on who you want to be, and become it with the help of your loyal tribe.
No matter where you are in life, rest easy knowing you’re not alone. Grab your copy of The Belonging on your favorite music platform, stream the album on Spotify, and grab your tickets to catch Innellea and friends on The Belonging tour!
