Alix Perez & Flowdan, SVDDEN DEATH, PLLFRY, Zingara, and BCee, DJ Marky, Makoto, and SOLAH released some of the best tracks in bass music last week.
We are officially a month into 2024 and the bass music community was blessed with some pretty unforgettable events last week. Some that stood out were Gem and Jam, Daisy Chain San Diego‘s Deep Dark and Dangerous takeover, Zeds Dead‘s run in Aspen, Excision‘s annual Thunderdome, and Illenium‘s massive Trilogy: Los Angeles show.
It’s safe to say it was tough narrowing down five top bass releases for the week of January 29-February 4, but duos like Flowdan and Alix Perez as well as SVDDEN DEATH and Marshmello teamed up for some absolute gems this week. Rising artists Zingara and Hallucinate also joined forces for a wonky new beat, and our bass IDchart would never be complete without some drum and bass. This week’s is a four-artist collaboration from some talents over at Drum&BassArena that you ought not to miss.
A notable and highly anticipated bootleg in the 140 dubstep world dropped also this week on SoundCloud, and it is our honorable mention as this week’s best unofficial release. Rising artist Criso has been making some of the hottest tunes in the game lately, and his rendition of UK grime trio YGG‘s “Strikers“ popped off hard in dubstep sets everywhere all of 2023. Finally hearing the standalone track after chasing it down in mixes for months just hits too perfectly.
Keep reading for more information on five fresh tracks that dropped this week, and listen to more bass music curations on EDM Identity’s Colossal Commotion and Drum & Bass Delights playlists for the latest tracks updated weekly.

Alix Perez & Flowdan – “Militia”
Forthcoming from his label 1985 Music is a brand-new Alix Perez EP arriving next month. This week, we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek with a single that sets the ominous vibe for the rest to come on the project. “Militia” features the iconic British dubstep vocalist Flowdan and marks his first time working with Perez. In a pairing that feels long overdue, the two make a deadly match.
Trudging along at a haunting 128 BPM, Alix Perez sets the perfect stage for Flowdan’s powerful voice as every detail and distortion rings true to the signature 1985 Music sound. Transporting your imagination to the darkest of dancefloors, this tune is begging to be played on a sound system.
Zingara and Hallucinate – “Manifest” ft. Nat James
Florida-based rising star Zingara has had a breakout year in 2023. She took the stage at several major festivals, from Dancefestopia to Countdown NYE, and even joined LSDREAM as direct support on his The Radical Audio Visual Experience tour.
Now, to kick off the new year with a brand-new self-release, Zingara has teamed up with Hallucinate on sonics and Nat James on vocals. Together they created “Manifest,” a stage-ready hip-hop-bass banger with catchy rhymes atop its head-bopping basslines.
BCee, DJ Marky, Makoto, SOLAH – Tell Me
Liquid drum and bass lovers, this is your moment! This beautiful new tune from the tastemakers over at Drum&BassArena is nothing short of incredible, and it features four talented artists. UK producers BCee, DJ Marky, and Makoto teamed up with the stunning voice of vocalist SOLAH for this dreamy tune.
“Tell Me,” with its uplifting lyrics from SOLAH and cascading liquid melodies, encompasses a truly feel-good atmosphere. It’s undoubtedly a track that will make you want to run it back with the windows down on a perfect day.
PLLFRY – “Overexciting” ft. Genoveva
You might know him as Kercha — but like many, this talented bass producer goes by more than one alias. PLLFRY explores a different side of the Russian artist’s experimental aesthetic with a focus on classic, halftime-leaning hip-hop sounds. PLLFRY’s new EP, Overexciting, dropped last week on Kercha’s resident imprint DNO as the first larger project under the alias with five tracks.
Selecting one of the five was challenging in this case, but the title track, “Overexciting” clearly gained the namesake honors for a reason. Deep, sultry downtempo falls into an addicting halftime beat with floating vocal stabs that echo sensually throughout. While this track stands out, PLLFRY’s whole EP deserves a thorough listen.
SVDDEN DEATH and Marshmello – “Ceremony“
Heavy bass king SVDDEN DEATH and mainstage icon Marshmello have joined forces again on another collaboration. A full four years since their previous track together, “Crusade,” comes the latest bass beast from the duo: “Ceremony.”
Appearing once again on Marshmello’s label, Joytime Collective, their latest collaboration builds slowly with a chilling intro. Angelic voices ring in a harmonic, ascending tone among heavy, echoing percussion before they fade away to unleash the madness within. Things get even heavier during the short-but-sweet second drop before the tune is suddenly done in a flash.
