Women, trans, and non-binary beatmakers are invited to submit a remix of Mha Iri’s “Bell” for the chance to win career-elevating prizes!
When Candian DJ, producer, and Blu Music pioneer Sydney Blu brought the non-profit Change The Beat (formerly 23by23) into the world, she did so to change the lives of a group of people who are often overlooked in the electronic dance music space. Today, the mission continues with their latest remix contest, open to producers who identify as a woman, trans, or non-binary.
In cooperation with Adam Beyer‘s Drumcode Records, Mha Iri‘s chart-topping techno single, “Bell,” has been offered up for re-imagination. The prizes take production prowess to the next level, reserving Native Instruments MASSIVE X for third place, Native Instruments KOMPLETE 14 for second place, and a chance to win an official release on Drumcode’s Elevate Vol. 2 in March, along with Native Instruments KOMPLETE ULTIMATE for the music-maker who places first!
It’s important to note that the first-place winner will only receive a release on Drumcode if it fits the label’s style, so they request that entrants dig into their catalog before diving into the studio.
With help from Native Instruments and Beatport, Change The Beat has nurtured inclusivity and diversity through a vast array of special events, competitions, and signings. Imprints like Toolroom, Anjunabeats, Desert Hearts, and REALM have joined in on the mission, and exciting up-and-comers like Camille Doe, Krista Bourgeois, SWAH, and Alex Elena have been elevated in the process! Stay up to date by joining their Discord and donating to the cause on their website. Stay tuned for info on their global showcases!
If you’re a woman, trans, or non-binary producer, and you think you have what it takes to win, then head over to the LabelRadar portal for full details and submissions. You have until 11:59pm PT on Thursday, February 15, to enter!
