Beatport is celebrating two decades of dance music and DJ culture with the launch of BPXX, including a digital web experience, activations, and more.

The digitalization of dance music began well before 2004, but that year, a new start-up took its first steps on the internet – Beatport. Since its inception, this brand has cemented itself as the industry leader in the dance music scene as a home for DJs to source tunes. The evolution of Beatport has seen the brand become a multi-faceted behemoth over the past two decades with acquisitions of platforms like LabelRadar and Ampsuite. A focus on the community has also been present with Beatport Next, the Diversity + Parity Fund, and the recent acquisition of Ibiza Music Summit (IMS).

In 2023, Beatport began their 20-year celebration with special experiences in Los Angeles and London. Now, in the first weeks of 2024, they’ve kicked everything into full gear with the launch of BPXX. Centered on the theme of “Music Is Unstoppable,” this look at the company’s past, present, and future offers everything from digital experiences to initiatives throughout the year.

Today, the BPXX Capsule, a digital web experience, is available for dance music lovers from all over the planet to check out. This interactive website details the story of Beatport from the first track on the platform to their more recent inclusion of new platforms and technological advancements.

That’s just the start of what Beatport has planned for 2024, as a flurry of initiatives will also surface throughout the year. In March, BPXX Int’l Women’s Month will kick into action with a series of films and features on women in dance music. BPXX Unstoppable Pride will begin in June, highlighting the LGBTQIA+ community’s contributions to the dance music and rave culture.

BPXX Unstoppable will also find a home at IMS this year, with activations that center on Beatport’s ecosystem while putting a spotlight on those who have grown alongside the brand over the past two decades. The Beatport Awards will also return for the first time since 2011 to honor members of the scene for their work, releases, and more.

Long before I joined the company as CEO seven years ago, Beatport was the dance music community’s central nervous system, as the unparalleled source of music for DJs around the world. We want to take 2024 to celebrate the incredible artists and DJs who have fueled dance music’s rise, the fans that make it possible, and the mavericks who are taking the culture into the future.

The Beatport Group’s CEO, Robb McDaniels

Stay tuned for additional BPXX initiatives and more as we dive deeper into 2024 by following Beatport on social media.

Grant Gilmore’s authoritative voice as a media professional lends credibility not common to EDM journalism. As the founder of EDM Identity he has effectively raised the bar on coverage of the past decade’s biggest youth culture phenomenon. After ten years of working for nonprofit organization Pro Player Foundation, Gilmore launched EDM Identity as a media outlet offering accurate informative coverage of the rave scene and electronic music as a whole. Although they cover comprehensive topic matter, they have taken special care in interviewing the likes of Armin van Buuren, Adventure Club, Gorgon City, Lane 8 and Afrojack. In addition to household names, they have also highlighted unsung heroes of the industry through their ID Spotlight segment. Whether he’s covering it or not, you can expect to find Grant Gilmore attending the next big electronic music event. To find out what’s next on his itinerary, follow him via the social links below.
