Sigma’s London Sound promises the duo’s return to their liquid drum and bass roots.
Sigma have announced their third studio album, London Sound. It will arrive on January 26, 2024, shortly before an album release party will take place at Here at Outernet in London on February 2.
In the announcement, Sigma reflected, “this is exactly what we want to be releasing and we can’t wait for you guys to hear this one.” Those who have sampled the new tracks anticipate the duo returning to their liquid drum and bass foundation.
Cam Edwards and Joe Lenzie, otherwise known as Sigma, met at university in Leeds. The dream of their project was born during the rise of liquid drum and bass sound in the UK, and they have continued to bring energy to the scene since that mid-2000s flashpoint. Throughout Sigma’s journey, their sound has evolved to showcase pop hits heard on the radio across the UK while cultivating a large following.
Sigma is not new to the scene. Early releases led to their breakthrough liquid drum and bass track, “Nobody To Love,” a smash hit that topped the UK charts in 2014. They followed it up with the 2015 release of their debut album Life. It featured a myriad of artists, including Labyrinth, Paloma Faith, Ella Henderson, and Rita Ora. Sigma’s sophomore album, Hope, released in 2022 and showcased an electronic pop sound with hints of their original style.
Throughout 2023, Sigma have released multiple liquid drum and bass tracks, including “The Corner” featuring Joe Devlin and “City Lights” with Gardna. The duo have also dropped “Adrenaline Rush,” which features a violin sample from ’90s hit “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verge with a liquid drum and bass twist and sharp vocals by MORGAN. This track has sent shockwaves across the drum and bass community with remixes by Subsonic and Run In The Jungle, in addition to acoustic and extended releases.
