Late Night Alumni breathes life into past releases like “4AM” and “Empty Streets” with their acoustic-driven seventh album, Echos.
Turn back the clock two full decades, and you’ll find Becky Jean Williams, John Hancock, Finn Bjarnson, and Ryan Raddon, aka Kaskade, taking their first steps together as Late Night Alumni. Two years later, the group’s debut album, Empty Streets, was released and quickly found a home among those who loved the sounds of progressive house and downtempo. Since then, Late Night Alumni has gone on to win over the hearts of more fans around the world with multiple albums and EPs, along with impressive performances dripping with emotion.
While Late Night Alumni has predominately been known for their ability to blend the worlds of organic and electronic elements into their music, their seventh album, Echos, is an entirely acoustic affair. Out now across all platforms, it takes a deep dive into the group’s past twenty years of releases to show them off in a new, inspiring way that’s intimate and soothing at its core, making it the perfect release for the chilly fall months.
Most of our songs are written in the organic/acoustic realm and then produced with electronic flavours to create our sound. In those intimate song beginnings, though, there’s a magic all its own. We’ve long wanted to do an album that captured and augmented that initial intimacy.

Echos opens with “Beautiful,” a track that was on their debut album Empty Streets. Soft piano notes set the emotional tone for the journey listeners will take as Becky Jean Williams’s vocals arrive and strings creep in from the background. Kaskade’s “4AM,” a track that Late Night Alumni co-wrote, is the next to grace the album. The backing piano begins this fresh take, and soothing, jazzy saxophone and percussion appear throughout, but the powerful lyrics are the prime focus of this gorgeous rendition.
From the acoustic guitar on “Even As I Go” and “Love Is A Knife” to the lounge-ready “The Rest Of You” and “Gemini,” each track will leave listeners feeling a sense of nostalgia while experiencing these classics in a new way. An obvious standout arrives with “Empty Streets,” arguably the group’s most beloved track. Its hypnotic guitar melody and Williams’s sultry vocals shine brightly. And while much of this album harkens to the past, the present is also represented. The final track on Echos, “Window,” is a new one from the group that acts as a perfect close with its more upbeat soundscape and cinematic elements that crescendo before its whispering final seconds.
