Trance Wax says it’s time to head back to the dancefloor with the release of his latest album that features club-ready tunes, Open Up The Night.

Whether Garry McCartney is dominating speakers with his dynamic releases under his Ejeca alias or winning over those who love a dose of nostalgia with his Trance Wax moniker, he’s continued to show off the fact that he’s one of the best artists in the scene. The Belfast-based DJ and producer has championed the notion of breathing life into classics as he’s transformed some of the best in the trance realm into techno and breaks-fueled experiences for listeners. In 2020, his self-titled debut album arrived to much acclaim on Anjunabeats, quickly catapulting him into further reaches of the scene, and now he’s back with another stunning collection of tunes.

This time around, Trance Wax looked to Armada Music to host his latest body of work, Open Up The Night. Found inside are 16 perfectly crafted tracks that aren’t just filled with nostalgic, genre-bending soundscapes but double as a love letter from this electronic maestro to late nights spent at clubs. Speaking about the album’s inspiration, Trance Wax stated, “DJing in clubs was something I really missed when we couldn’t do it a couple of years ago, and I suppose I channeled that yearning for being back behind the decks and in front of a crowd into making these tracks.” The result is pure dancefloor magic that will transport you straight to the rave.

The title track opens up this journey into the depths of the dancefloor and immediately injects listeners with plenty of energy to get their feet moving and body grooving. Tracks like “Dark Space,” “Antiga,” and “Your Journey” offer tasty layers of trance-fueled synths that will wrap around your mind, while “Artificial Intelligence,” “Ascend,” and “Larus” show off the faster side of the genre while still retaining its cosmic nature.

Sweeping trance melodies aren’t the only thing found on Open Up The Night. One of the true standouts is “Aslan,” a surprising drum and bass addition that helps the album pick up its pace and is one we’ve had on repeat after first hearing it. Others that stood tall include “Innerpeace,” with its classic rave sound and a hypnotic vocal that infects the mind, as well as the breaks-fueled “Distance” and the larger-than-life, booming “Love Me Higher.” The finishing blow arrives with Trance Wax’s take on Corona’s “Rhythm Of The Night,” which masterfully twists the original into an experience that will leave you feeling refreshed.

Listen to Open Up The Night on Spotify or your preferred platform, and make sure to grab a copy of the vinyl on Bandcamp before it sells out!
