POPOF takes his talents to Factory 93 Records for the first time and makes a splash with the two-track Maze Distortion EP.
Whether he’s churning out sensational tunes or impressing crowds at some of the world’s top festivals, POPOF has solidified himself as one of the finest French artists in the house and techno scene. This Parisian has made his mark time and time again with releases on esteemed labels like Cocoon, Filth On Acid, 1605, Hot Creations, and his own, FORM, while putting his dynamic abilities to create in progressive house, techno, and tech house on full display. Now, POPOF has looked to Factory 93 Records for his latest release, Maze Distortion.
Factory 93 Records has grown to become one of the hottest imprints for fresh techno releases in the scene, and the Maze Distortion EP from POPOF adds another exciting chapter to the label’s story. Found within it are two techno tracks from the French DJ and producer that will take listeners on a trip into the depths of an underground rave where they will get their minds twisted.
The title track leads the charge on this release, and it’s off to the races from the jump with the acid tones and bassline carrying listeners forward at a rapid pace with vocal stabs for added effect. A break in the action allows a moment to breathe and soak in the ambiance before POPOF begins the slow-burning build back into the acid-twinged madness that arrives in the latter half.
Then, POPOF keeps the energy going on “Syndrome,” which opens with pounding drums and hi-hats that set the stage for what’s to come. The vocal creeps into this track to shake up the soundscape, growing with power each time it’s repeated before being modulated to double as the indicator that the track’s larger-than-life drop is about to take hold. Flurries of synths give this techno tune a twinge of trance to further enhance the vibe, and there’s no doubt you’ll find your mind absolutely melted when listening to this one.
Listen to Maze Distortion on Spotify or your preferred platform, and don’t miss out on catching POPOF when he and Space 92 take control of the crowd with their Turbulences project at Escape Halloween this fall!
