Boreta, a founding member of The Glitch Mob, has officially announced his departure from the group to focus on his solo work.

Turn back the clock to 2006, and you’ll find The Glitch Mob taking their first steps in the scene with their original cast of five members – edIt, Ooah, Boreta, Kraddy, and Kitty-D. Driving forward in the Los Angeles bass scene, the group began to make a name for themselves with live performances that utilized MIDI controllers, laptops, and other technology, leading to tours throughout the West Coast. In 2009, The Glitch Mob saw the first shake-up of its lineup, with Kraddy leaving the group due to creative differences and Kitty-D leaving that same year.

The Glitch Mob’s debut album, Drink The Sea, was unveiled in 2010 and met with praise from fans and tastemakers alike who were captivated by their unique, glitch-fueled bass style, further catapulting them into stardom in the scene. Since then, The Glitch Mob has continued to impress with albums such as See Without Eyes, Love Death Immortality, and Ctrl Alt Reality while embarking on tours with specially crafted production setups. Last month saw The Glitch Mob team up with IMANU for “Dream Sequence,” but yesterday brought some news that the trio would become a duo as founding member Boreta announced his departure from the group.

While each member of The Glitch Mob has produced and performed under their solo aliases in the past, it can be difficult to make the time to focus on that work. That’s what led Boreta to announce his departure, citing that he wanted to put all of his attention on his solo project and teased that his debut album will arrive soon.

“It was incredibly tough to make this decision, but I know in my heart that I’m ready for this next stage,” Boreta said in his post on social media. “I have so much love and gratitude for Ooah and edIT. I’m proud of our work and everything we created over the past decade, and fully support them in this new era of The Glitch Mob.”

The Glitch Mob will press on into the future with edIT and Ooah taking the reins. Make sure to follow them and Boreta on social media to stay in the know on future releases and shows.
