Charles D Drops a Fresh EP on Drumcode

Charles D might be a familiar face for many on Drumcode, and now he’s delivered his debut EP on the Adam Beyer-led imprint.

Deep, dark, driving techno is the signature style that Charles D has put on full display as he’s blossomed over the past few years. Not only has this talented producer from New York City graced imprints like Octopus Recordings, Pryda Presents, Factory 93 Records, and more during this time, but his hypnotic sounds have won crowds over at nightclubs and festivals near and far.

Drumcode has been another home for Charles D as he’s risen to the top. He made a splash in 2022 by twisting Adam Beyer and Bart Skils‘ hit tune “Your Mind” in epic fashion before following it up with an original gem dubbed “Traction” later that year. After recently remixing Mike Macauluso’s “Final Chapter,” he’s returned with his debut EP, Don’t Stop, on the beloved techno imprint.

Don’t Stop is out across all platforms and prominently puts the subterranean style Charles D has championed front and center. The title track leads the charge with its fast-paced groove that will leave you feeling like you’re riding a rollercoaster while vocal stabs and moments of silence are layered to build the tension for its inevitable blast of energy in the drop.

Once you’re in the grasp of Charles D after “Don’t Stop,” there’s “No Escape” from the madness that ensues on the second track. Acid tones, vocal samples, and distorted elements dominate this one as you traverse deeper into the night. “Choir’s Palace” turns the dial down just a tad for a slower-burning close to the three-track ride. Its repeated vocal and choir-like ambiance pair perfectly with the percussion and hi-hats to make this one leave a lasting impression.
