Nils Hoffmann Returns to Anjunadeep with New EP

Phenomena I is the latest body of work from Nils Hoffmann that will whisk listeners away to a mesmerizing synth-filled wonderland.

While Nils Hoffmann has graced labels like Kalias and Poesie Musik over the years, he’s flourished since finding a home on Anjunadeep. After leaving listeners stunned by collaborating with Ben Bohmer on “Breathing,” he delivered an impressive body of work, A Radiant Sign, on the imprint last year that only further showcased the gorgeous soundscapes he can create. More recently, Nils Hoffmann showcased his immense skills behind the decks by taking the stage at festivals like Anjunadeep Explorations, Tomorrowland, and Group Therapy Weekender while also embarking on an album tour.

During his travels, Nils Hoffmann took some time to produce as well, with the result arriving in his latest two-track EP, Phenomena I. Speaking about the release, Nils Hoffman said he drew inspiration from the shows he played on his album tour as he traversed three continents, and the sonic offerings aren’t just gorgeous; they’re intimate as well.

The first of the two tracks to be released, “Lonely,” arrived at the end of June and saw the Berlin-based producer team up with a familiar face, Rae Morris, who had previously worked with Lane 8 on “No Fun.” Her sultry vocals provide an added layer of ambiance over the mesmerizing synths and overall warm atmosphere to make this a track that will leave a lasting impression. The new single, “Nightflower,” starts off with pensive tones as it meanders forward before the bassline chugs forward while the energy is increased ever so subtly for a summer soundscape worth listening to multiple times.

Taking the songs I write in my studio or at any other place I get the chance to work to so many different countries and cities still feels unreal and exciting to me. With ‘Nightflower’ I wanted to create a more energetic instrumental, which I haven’t released in a while, and I felt the urge to show this side of my music too. It’s been always a special moment in my sets from the first time I’ve played it and I’m happy to share it with you today.
