The legendary Mayan Warrior Art Car will remain forever locked in the memories of fans after their final event in Los Angeles on Halloween weekend!
Back in April, just one month after the announcement of their 10-year anniversary tour, the community received heart-shattering news that Mayan Warrior, the iconic dazzling art car that brought so much joy to Burning Man and beyond, was destroyed in a fire. Since then, the crew embarked on a farewell journey, touching down on the beautiful beach of Punta de Mita, Mexico, and the bustling city of New York. But on Halloween weekend, the Mayan Warrior tribe will have an opportunity to pay their final respects.
On October 28, In partnership with party collective Stranger Than;, anyone who the magic of Mayan Warrior has touched is called to commence on the grounds of Grand Park in Los Angeles. While the art car was birthed in Mexico City, this event in the City of Angels will be no less than a homecoming since the venue was the place selected for its debut West Coast gathering back in 2017. This fall, tears will be shed, and memories will be shared of the structure that united native culture with striking decoration and the best sound and lighting production an art car could provide.
In tradition, when it comes to the beats, the lineup will remain unannounced, but you can certainly expect a vast array of Mexican talent in honor of its roots as well as rising stars and established house and techno icons alike, culminating in the ultimate celebration of life, love, and unity. This fundraiser will allow the Mayan Warrior crew to move into the future, and while there hasn’t been any word on what comes next, you can rest assured that while one door closes, another one always opens. But for now, let’s send the Mayan Warrior off with the tribute it so deeply deserves.
