Explore 'Boundless' Expanses with AltBraKz

Vancouver-based producer AltBraKz** delivers a dynamic blend of sounds on his debut Footwork album, Boundless.**

From creating drum and bass to exploring the realm of electronica, forward-thinking DJ and producer AltBraKz has only continued to impress with his experimental sound. This multi-dimensional artist has found a passion for breaking the norm with his unique production style that sees him layer glitches and bass elements over synthesized kicks and snares while toying around with different plugins to create unique effects. Earlier this year, AltBraKz dropped off his first-ever house-oriented EP, and now he’s released Boundless, his debut footwork album.

Boundless might be an album featuring hypnotic footwork grooves, but the story is deeper than that, as its creation was rooted in the time after AltBraKz found out his wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer and has since undergone treatment. “This album was written during a very difficult time,” he shared. “It’s written with hope in mind. I wrote it to ease my anxiety and keep myself strong for someone I love.” Because of this, all proceeds from Boundless from the first year post-release will be donated to the BC Cancer Foundation, making each listen one that goes to a good cause.

As for the music, the seven tracks found on Boundless are infectious bops that you’ll find yourself returning to repeatedly. “Bent” warps the mind from the jump with its blend of punchy drums, glitches, and chopped vocals. This acts as a proper taste of what’s to come as similar elements are found in the other six tracks while AltBraKz shifts and alters the atmosphere in each to keep the mix fresh. Standouts include “Guess Who” and “Level The Score,” while the vibes on “Tune Em Up” are out of this world.
