Pocket Sprinkles a Dose of Love on Debut EP

Pocket unveils his debut EP on Helix Records, Love Disc, which showcases a flawless balance of emotional and sonic brilliance.

In a world where originality can be hard to come by, Pocket serves as a beacon of authenticity and creativity. By refusing to conform to a mainstream sound, the Edinburgh-raised producer forges his path to establish a solid identity that is uniquely his own. Pocket’s artistic brilliance offers fresh air as his bold and fearless approach to music has truly cemented his status as a rising star.

In his debut EP, Love Disc, Pocket treats the fans to a one-of-a-kind musical journey filled with unexpected twists, infectious melodies, and undeniable energy. Landing on Helix Records, the six-track release sees him carve out a space for himself in the music landscape and capture the hearts of fans who crave something exciting and distinctively charming.

Instead of solely relying on written lyricism, Pocket embraces the power of sonic and melodic elements to convey his emotions and experiences. The new single “Evergreen” features Scottish singer-songwriter kloe as both artists team up to take the listeners into a multi-dimensional depth. The latter’s breathtaking vocals create a beautiful contrast to elevate the heartfelt lyrics of the track, making this collaboration a shining gem that reflects a perfect synergy between the duo.

Crafted as an ode to someone being in a long-distance relationship, “Evergreen” is a song that began with the idea that simplicity is its strength. “There are lots of textures and all based around the piano part. The unapologetic lyrics and feel are, to me, what makes it such a standout,” Pocket said. “In the climate of house music and dance music in the UK, it’s very easy to hold yourself back from making something sweet and warm with the fear of not fitting the mold, and I’m happy with taking the chance to make that happen.”

Even within other gems like “80hd” and “Give Yourself to Somebody,” Pocket opted to let the songs speak for themselves through their uplifting nature and melodramatic energy. Sparkling with irresistible charm, they remind us to savor the warmth of the rising summer sun and cherish moments that make life truly remarkable.

Another standout piece is “Crying at Supermac’s,” which ingeniously injects minimalist production and satisfying vocal chops. Pocket effortlessly unveils a sound that evokes memories of the enigmatic and influential electronic musician Burial. Sonically, there is a fluid integration of ambient and club-oriented sounds, offering the listeners both a contemplative and visceral aspect of music and further accentuating the DJ’s willingness to experiment with refreshing alternative sounds.

As he continues to sprinkle more magic, Pocket teams up with BRONZE AVERY on the penultimate track, “U.” Together, they flawlessly merge elements of pop, house, and UK garage into an ethereal sound by tapping on the latter’s impassioned vocals. The song’s radiant energy gently nudges the listeners to find joy in the present moment, leading perfectly into the final track, “Wait For Me.”

I’m a firm believer that inspiration comes from your close, romantic, or most specifically platonic relationships. You can have the craziest experiences but the creative drive to turn them into something comes from the people you’ve surrounded yourself within the process. Love Disc represents this. I’ve never been one to default to lyricism and songwriting as catharsis so i used this record as a way to find a middle ground in exploring how I can reach that catharsis through what speaks to me sonically and melodically.

Pocket

Love Disc embodies Pocket’s commitment to creating an inclusive musical experience. It serves as an invitation for listeners to immerse themselves in a kaleidoscope of electronic styles. Whether you’re a fan of indie-pop, R&B, or any music beyond that, there is something magical to be discovered in this EP, so lean in and appreciate the richness Pocket offers within his latest project by listening on Spotify or your preferred platform.
