UMEK’s 1605 is back with the 10th installment of Desiderati 4, featuring Danny Avila, Heerhorst, Novem Vivit, and Benjamin Di Bora!
UMEK‘s 1605 imprint never disappoints when it comes to featuring the best that the techno industry has to offer. Whether their artists are laying down the hammer or taking listeners on a euphoric dive deep into the underground, you can bet your last dollar that it’ll be an out-of-body experience worth running back to. The proof is in the pudding with the Desiderati 4 series that kicked off back in the spring of 2020. While that was an era we’d love to forget, it brought forth music that would pull ravers out of the trenches, and after two years and nine installments, 1605 keeps the beats bumping with Desiderati 4.10!
This go-round features a dazzling list of artists who understand just what the techno enthusiast needs, beginning with the one and only Danny Avila. For his 1605 debut, he sets out on a quest to uncover the secrets of “Atlantis.” Well, not literally, but the beats found within these six minutes will certainly paint a picture of what that city might have sounded like from the mind of a dance music madman. First and foremost, this track focuses on the uninhibited power of percussion, sending ripples through the underwater grave of the lost city. But with power comes beauty, and “Atlantis” captures the vibe with an enchanting breakdown before doubling down on the bassline thump.
The next offering comes from an artist no stranger to the 1605 brand – Heerhorst. The last time we saw him on the label he stepped up to “Deliver” extreme ethereal heat on Desiderati 4.9. For this release, he aims to intoxicate the masses with “XTC.” In order to get the pleasure center popping and the serotonin flowing Heerhorst serves up a delightful dose of weightless synth tones, stormy top-end soundwaves, and rapturous choral chants. By the time listeners reach the end, pupils will be fully dilated and bodies will be rocking with reckless abandon.
After that downright debaucherous experience, it’s time to “Feed Your Soul.” Lucky for us, Novem Vivit has crafted the perfect dish for the hungry raver. For his 1605 debut, this German-born, Miami-based artist turns to soul-soaked vocals, bright high hats, and an energetic chugging drive to make a lasting impression. What’s extra delicious about this piece is the subtle rolling undertone that complements an otherwise heavy set of auditory treats. And just when you think you have the tune figured out, Novem Vivit releases the thrusters, increasing the anticipation before the low octave drop causes a feeding frenzy in the club!
Last, but certainly not least is “Mind Body Connection” by Benjamin Di Bora. This is an artist who is just getting his feet wet in the industry with only four releases under his belt. For his 1605 debut, Benjamin invites us to look inward and discover how our minds and bodies react to acidic soundwaves and spacey sound bytes barreling out of the speaker. The result – the entire world melts away as the music becomes the only catalyst for your existence. Now, there’s nothing more satisfying than a quirky unexpected vocal and when the robotic spoken word arrives, expect to dive even deeper into the subconscious. This tune is one part industrial, one part psychedelic, and fully capable of turning the dancefloor inside out.
