After joining forces with Riigs to launch Londam, Skenna spun an exclusive mix for the Fall Frequencies series that hits deep with melodic vibes.
Skenna and Riigs are two artists who know how to craft some serious masterpieces individually, but when they come together, it’s nothing but fireworks. Based out of Amsterdam, Skenna has come up in the scene with sentimental cuts like “One Of These Days” and “You Look Like You,” both of which landed on Manual Music in 2021. UK native Riigs is no stranger to the world of deep, melodic house either, as his years-long track record of electronic music production has found him gracing imprints like Krafted and Inward Records, in addition to teaming up with Skenna for a few joint collaborations on the You Look Like You EP.
Following up on You Look Like You, Skenna and Riigs came together again in 2021 on their track “One More Love,” which permeates all of the senses through a labyrinth of cerebral instrumentation with hints of airy vocals. The single’s B-side “Ambro” provides a passionate counterpart to its predecessor, tapping into similar feelings with its evocative synth and piano chord progressions. The producers proved once again that good things come in pairs and that some truly beautiful works of art can come out of combining two creative minds.
Now, Skenna and Riigs have fully integrated their passions for curating emotional atmospheres with the forming of their new label, Londam. They debuted the label back in June with the Underpass EP, which showcased three new melodic tunes featuring hints of breakbeats and subterranean undertones. In addition, the EP’s eponymous track got a club-ready reworking from Phil Anker, while LEV contributed an all-encompassing dancefloor feel to “Christal Shore.”
In light of their recent label launch, Skenna created a mix for our Fall Frequencies series that embarks on a voyage through poignant soundscapes. It starts off slow and gradually builds in energy and tempo, visiting a vast array of colorful sounds to pull you in further and further. There’s lots of good stuff on the horizon for Londam, and tuning into this mix is a surefire way to build anticipation for what’s to come.
