Get a Taste of Bouncy House and Funky Disco in Serge Santiago’s ’11:11′

Serge Santiago cooks up eight rousing tracks for 11:11, out on Irvine Welsh’s new imprint Jack Said What.

Brighton-based DJ Serge Santiago‘s music is a journey through a spectrum of an electronic soundscape and a conscientious mindset. If you are into numerology, you would know that the “aligned” 11:11 signifies pure enlightenment and bliss. Apart from having a release date of November 11, it is no coincidence that his latest LP, also aptly titled 11:11, captivates the kind of contemporary disco-styled groove set to light up the dance floors. Landing on Jack Said What, this album shows Serge Santiago’s sleek production skill as he continues to exceed expectations since carving out his solo path in 2019.

Through eight rumbling tracks in the record, Serge masterfully maneuvers his way through the eclectic sounds of house and disco heat. The previously released singles “Ear Racer” and “You Got Me” have already proven to be a hit with their witty flow and catchy club beat, and the rest of the tracks within the LP are set to delight the listeners.

Kicking off with “Rain,” Serge wastes no time whisking listeners into an electrifying, groovy mood. Swelling with hard-hitting kick drums from the first play, the song is complemented by Kathy Brown’s crisp vocals to take flight into its own status. With other elite tracks like “Nobody” and “Feeling Alright,” the multi-talented producer injects a commanding rhythm that builds up to pulse-raising intensity. Throughout sonic highs and lows, he expertly crafts a dynamic sound within each track defined by gritty analog synthesis. “Rave Dance” is another instant call-to-the-dancefloor creation with slinky house vibes and effortlessly smooth sound design.

True to his dedication to using music as an outlet for creative expression, Serge Santiago has created a record that is as entrancing as it is free-spirited. Do not be deceived by the next sizzling piece, “Deception,” as the creative forcer explores crunchy electronic synths that perfectly balance the sections of glitchy tones. Wrapping up the LP with “You Got Me,” Serge Santiago raises the heat higher than before with its exhilarating synths and dance-fueled harmony.

Freedom to express yourself through music is why we all started writing in the first place,” he says. “This is what Irvine Welsh and Steve Mac gave me on their label Jack Said What, so this is what I’ve done with the album — ‘11:11’, on the right track!
