Lost In Dreams curates tunes from Xavi, VARI and sh4dows, Digital Skies and SØPHI, and more for the latest volume of their Gateway compilation series.
Lost In Dreams might be one of the newest brands in the Insomniac family but the label and its conjoined festival have already begun to win over the hearts of those who love the melodic side of dance music. A plethora of releases have found a home on the imprint since its formation just a few short years ago that have put a spotlight on the best and brightest rising stars in the future bass and melodic dubstep side of the spectrum, and their Gateway compilation series only further proves that mission.
Much akin to the two previous Gateway compilations, the third volume puts its central focus on producers who deliver powerful beats and evoke emotions simultaneously. Kicking everything off is “Fight For You,” a massive collaboration that brings the minds of Fransis Derelle, GUERRO, and Josh Rubin together for a dubstep-fueled ride that is taken to the next level by its stunning vocal performance that will lift your spirits. The only solo track on the compilation, “Justwanna,” arrives from the mind of Xavi and features distorted vocals and glitchy elements that make it feel like it was ripped straight out of a robot’s mind.
Emotions continue to stir when VARI and sh4dows‘ “Ego” enters the fray as its moody lyrics lead into a trap-fueled drop that will make you want to catch this one live. Digital Skies joins in on the fun just after that with “Game We Play,” which pairs a strong vocal performance from SØPHI with a melodic dubstep ride that feels larger than life before AVELLO and James bring the compilation to a close with “There She Was.” This one is atmospheric at its core, with an angelic intro that drops into a funky bass ride and a beautiful melodic drop that will leave listeners wanting to press that repeat button for another spin.
