SORAYA channels the heatwave hitting Southern California to spin up a mix brimming with tunes that will help you vibe out.
While the scene in San Diego might be dominated by the sound of tech house lately, there are a number of artists who continue to break the mold to bring something fresh and exciting. One of those artists who is quickly making a name for herself is SORAYA, who first jumped behind the decks and the age of 17 and hasn’t looked back since.
The past two years have seen SORAYA continue to grow as a DJ as she’s taken over crowds at venues around San Diego such as Bang Bang, Firehouse, Spin Nightclub, and more, while also playing exclusive house parties in Palm Springs during Coachella. Bucking the trend of others in the scene, she uses a dynamic range of influences that stem from the experience she’s gained working in different facets of the music industry since she was young.
“Being around so many different styles of music, it took me a long time to develop a sound that truly felt like mine,” SORAYA said when asked about finding her signature style. “For a while, I felt like I had to fit into a mold of what people expected of me or what everyone else around me was playing. Because of my personality, many people expect me to play happier or more commercial music, but I’ve always been drawn to that deeper sound.”
I’m often asked what genre I play or ‘what kind of DJ’ I am, and I can’t really describe it. I just love playing tracks that sound good loud and translate well in a club.

When SORAYA isn’t spinning tracks at nightclubs in San Diego, she’s helping further support the dance music community as a whole. This culminated in late August with RECLAIM CTRL, a curated show that featured an all-women lineup with the intent of raising funds for reproductive rights. Now, after the dust from that show has settled and the temperatures have risen even higher in Southern California, SORAYA has spun up a mix filled with quality tunes to get you in a groove and keep you cool.
