Get Up and Dance to BOLO THE DJ’s Latin-Fueled Mix

BOLO THE DJ

Combining the best of electronic and Latin music, BOLO THE DJ spins up a mix for This Is Home that will have you dancing from start to finish.

Hailing from the Bay Area and now residing in San Diego, Edgar Avalos, better known by his stage name BOLO THE DJ, is a certified party starter. His love for music started at home where growing up, Latin music was at the heart of his family’s culture and traditions. He discovered bass music in middle school and was fascinated by what he heard. So much so, that it ignited his love for electronic music and DJing.

It wasn’t until college though that Avalos was able to let his passion become his life. From DJing school events and in local venues, to starting an event production company, he grew his platform and refined his craft. Recently, he has been turning his focus toward production of both originals and exclusive remixes, all the while still turning the party at regular DJ gigs.

BOLO THE DJ sets are energetic and so much fun, combining electronic dance music with his hip hop and Latin roots. He has gifted us with a mix for our This Is Home Series that encapsulates everything he has to offer.

This has easily been one of my favorite mixes to prepare since it includes many different genres and artists that heavily influenced my music style over the years. Growing up in a Hispanic household as a first-generation citizen, Latin dance music has always been a strong part of my culture and traditions. My mother actually used to teach ballet Folklorico while I was growing up. I never committed to learning dance but can probably thank my mom for my early fascination with music.

I think this mix accurately depicts my style of mixing which tends to be quick, high energy transitions which cover multiple genres of music. I threw in a personal remix that fuses my classic love for hip hop with the new school electronic dance style. This remix (WDYW) is a staple in my sets these days and has gotten awesome support from other DJs.
