Pax Impera Goes “Back to the Sound” with New Release

Jayce Ullah-Blocks by Jayce Ullah-Blocks
August 3, 2021
in Exclusive Premiere

Emerging bass artist Pax Impera delivers his latest punchy single, “Back to the Sound,” and we have an exclusive listen to it ahead of its release!

Pax Impera has steadily captivated listeners with his seductive slew of pounding basslines and distorted synths since his electrifying remix of Flume’s “Insane” first surfaced. The Orange County-based artist has released a stream of momentous tunes ever since via premier bass labels Deadbeats and Subsidia and has found his hypnotic tunes rinsed across main stages and more intimate settings alike. Earlier this summer, Pax Impera landed on Subsidia: Dusk Vol. 4 with his moving single “Bliss” – now, the rising bass star flips the switch and returns to his roots with the self-released “Back to the Sound,” out on all platforms August 4.

For this tantalizing tune, Pax Impera foregoes his trademark glitches and deafening basses in exchange for the sticky wobbles and uproarious percussive elements. Kicking off with a haunting drum sequence paired with an equally foreboding chord progression, “Back to the Sound” takes a turn for the weird with a juicy syncopation of popping synth waves, obliterating snares, and a fat, driving bassline.

I wrote this before the pandemic hit, and I was really stoked on this track. Over the last year and a half I’ve taken a dive into many different styles and genres. i’ve really expanded my skill-set and am coming back to live music as a different artist. this track represents not only a return to shows, but a return to my roots and OG sound.

Pax Impera

Pax Impera’s latest release is a flawless blend of deep experimental sounds and raucous swagger reminiscent of the artist’s earlier sonic exploits while simultaneously diving into unheard terrain. Masterfully fusing sexy midtempo with reverberating basses and spicy freeform zest, his polished sound design will surely catapult the artist to the tops of dedicated basshead’s playlists and radars everywhere. Ahead of a jam-packed festival and tour season to be expected in 2021, we can only hope to witness Pax Impera’s sonic evolution grace stages once again this year.

Get an exclusive listen of “Back to the Sound” below and download or stream the new single upon its official release on August 4!
