Drift Away with a Dreamy Mix from Sky Society

in Exclusive Mix

Sky Society joins the This Is Home series and crafts an enchanting mix that will perk up your ears and ease you into the week!

Sky Society is a project that was brought to life in 2013 by mastermind Juany Santos, who set grand intentions from the beginning. Founded on the values of creating higher ways of thinking, living, and connecting via music, arts, and humanity he’s gone on to build a loyal community and brand that honors the power of music while consistently growing and transforming the project since inception.

Born in Queens, Santos was inspired by music on the radio early on in his life. Whether it was Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, Funk, Disco, Pop, or Alternative, there was something about music that ignited a fire in him to explore it more deeply. In his teen years, he began to learn to beat-match and mix, which led him to chopping samples, producing his own mixtapes, and diving into aspects of music theory to sharpen his abilities. All these experiences and influences have culminated into what Sky Society is today.

Now living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Sky Society recently collaborated with Ehiorobo on “Holy Time.” A chill tune that straddles the line of R&B and lo-fi hip-hop, it draws listeners in with Ehiorobo’s crooning vocals and keeps you engaged with a melancholic beat. The track is a stark representation of Sky Society’s influences as it combines elements from across the electronic spectrum to experiment and create something fresh.

Lancaster’s chill, and geographically it’s easy to get to all the bigger metropolitan cities, which is where I find myself playing out more nowadays.

In 2016 I was actually living in both Chicago and Lancaster, every other week on a plane playing residencies I hosted at the time. I opened my own record shop that year as well in downtown Lancaster, it was an art gallery and small music venue too.

By 2020 we outgrew that space, and now the focal point is launching the label Higher Frequency Recordings while planning out our upcoming releases for the next year or two.

I’m an avid record collector with a collection of around 15,000 at the moment, until the right real estate opportunity presents itself I’m continuing to expand the collection and keep my track selection the freshest for our Live radio show every Sunday 5-7 pm EST via Crate Digs. You know the vizzy vibes.

Sky Society

To celebrate the release, Sky Society joined the This Is Home series to put his eclectic sound is on full display. He takes listeners on a vibe-inducing, 30-minute journey and weaves together a mix full of diversity. It begins with the aforementioned “Holy Time” and transitions into a collection of funky tunes that will get your tapping toes and energy levels rising. Perfect for listening to while working at home or just relaxing as the day passes away, it’s a solid addition to your collection of mixes to play out this summer.

Zachary Lefevre

Zachary Lefevre has been listening to electronic music since the early 2000s. Although his first live show was underground hip-hop, he began listening to a variety of different genres and found his niche within electronic community. After attending more concerts and festivals, Zachary was seeking out a platform that would allow him to express his passion and love for live music and share it with friends, family, and the world. Having always been an avid writer he began to combine the two arts and shortly after writing his first article Zachary became part of the EDM Identity team in August 2015.
