Awakenings Festival has postponed its upcoming edition to 2022 after local authorities did not grant a permit for it to take place this year.

Earlier this year, Awakenings Festival revealed that they would be pushing their dates from June to September as uncertainty continued with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, those looking to get their fix of techno will need to wait a bit longer as they’ve recently announced that the festival will be postponed to 2022 as local authorities did not grant them a permit.

“Everything is starting to look brighter, but unfortunately, the local authorities cannot give us our permit, for unclear reasons,” the festival organizers said as they expanded on the news of the postponement. “They mentioned there is not enough police force available, but we have already proven that festivals of this size can take place with very minimal police involvement. Unfortunately, the local authorities stand their ground and this cannot be changed.”

Those who have tickets for the upcoming edition of Awakenings Festival should keep an eye out on their email inboxes, as details surrounding options, as well as the newly rescheduled dates, will be arriving this month. The festival organizers have also said that a new sale will take place for the 2022 edition, but will be limited as many opted to hold onto their tickets from the prior postponements. As of publishing, no official dates for Awakenings 2022 have been revealed. More details can be found via their website.

While the news of Awakenings Festival’s postponement is unfortunate, they did tease that there will be many surprises in store for their 25th anniversary year in 2022, and more details on that will be coming next month. Further, they are also making plans for ADE this coming fall and lineups should be arriving this month as well, so make sure you’re following their social media accounts for the latest announcements!

Stay tuned for more information about other cancellations and postponements from around the world as we continue to follow the impact coronavirus has on the festival season this year.
