New Zealand’s Inertia pushes the momentum forward with Force In Motion, a five-track EP that’s out now on IN : DEEP.

Since their formation, New Zealand-based duo Inertia have looked to push the drum and bass scene forward with their deep take on the genre. Now, this collaborative project between Dan Kinraid (KINA) and Alex Lowe (M2MYU) has landed their debut release on IN : DEEP in the form of the five-track Force In Motion EP.

To set the tone of the journey, Inertia begins with “Blow Your Nose,” a track filled with smooth rhythms that are layered over a bassline that roars into the ears. Now that they have listeners right where they want them, “Rabbithole” enters the fray. Soon after pressing play on this track, you’ll find yourself falling to the mysterious depths and only bottoming out when you’ve reached an unknown world filled with furious, subsonic beats.

Following the same thematic elements, “Babadook” creates haunting shadows to allure the listeners into a hypersonic trap, where all that is heard by the ears is foreboding wobbles. Then, Inertia casts some “Voodoo” and presents the track with echoing and shimmering synth pads, which are halted to shatter by the shutter-stepped beat and low-end frequencies that will rumble subwoofers to their grave. To finish the expedition off, “Husk” arrives to bring listeners back up from the trenches of the mind to reach a psychedelic clarity. It’s a fitting end to this drum and bass ride.

With the release of the Force In Motion EP, it’s clear that Inertia has set their sights on dominating well into the future and we can’t wait to see what’s to come from the duo. Listen to the gruesome beats on Spotify or grab a copy on Beatport, and let us know what your thoughts are on the latest release from Inertia in the comments!
