The Glitch Mob’s edIT breathes life back into his solo work with “That’s Me Baby,” the lead single off his forthcoming album Come To Grips.
Edward Ma, also known as edIT, helped found dynamic trio The Glitch Mob and solidified their status as pioneers in the electronic music scene. But with the new year in full swing, edIT is shifting focus to his solo project for the first time in over a decade. He’s announced that his third studio album, Come to Grips, will be arriving on his newly founded label Know Truth No Lie on February 26.
Leaning on his background in hip hop and a long history of producing, Come to Grips will be a welcome release for his fans who loved previous albums Crying over Pros for No Reason and Certified Air Raid Material. Paired with the news about his forthcoming album, edIT released “That’s Me Baby” as its lead single, with a focus on healing and being in the best mindset to move forward from darker times.
Drawing inspiration from the roller coaster that was 2020 with its canceled shows and quarantine due to the pandemic as well as the systemic racial injustice issues in the United States, edIT turned to music to find solace. “That’s Me Baby” parallels aspects of The Glitch Mob’s iconic sound while emphasizing edIT’s individuality as he delivers a steady tempo created with a wide array of instruments. Along with the release of the track comes a haunting visual experience that echoes the emotions behind the production.
Take a listen to “That’s Me Baby” on Spotify or your favorite streaming platform and be sure to pre-save Come To Grips now ahead of its release on February 26. A limited-edition vinyl release and long-sleeved tee are also available for pre-order via The Glitch Mob’s website.
