Groove Cruise Orlando will set sail to the new destination of Labadee aboard Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas in January 2022.
The world’s largest floating festival, Groove Cruise, returns for what will be a post-COVID celebration in 2022 and offered up details about its 18th anniversary. For starters, fans voted for a space-themed Groove Cruise Orlando voyage on Royal Caribbean’s world-class Mariner of the Seas. Set to depart from Port Canaveral, FL, also known as Space Coast, on January 20-24, 2022, they will make sail to Labadee’s Private Paradise in Haiti.
Mariner of the Seas just underwent $120 million in upgrades to bring forth new features like the massive Perfect Storm water park, VR experiences, bungee trampolines called the Sky Pad, ice skating, and more. Attendees should look forward to participating in artist-led activities and bumping into celebrities on the dance floors. Other crowd-favorite activities on the ship include three pools and six whirlpools, including the FlowRider Surf Simulator, top-level dining, and of course, music across nine stages for 96 hours straight.
Once the ship reaches its destination in Labadee, those on board can expect a whole different adventure. The private paradise is guaranteed exclusively for those onboard GC Orlando. The Caribbean island is loaded with attractions like both the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line and Dragon’s Tail Roller Coaster, and parasailing, to name a few. And if some tranquility is what you crave after being on board a ship, then private cabanas will be available as well.
A Groove Cruise sailing wouldn’t be what it is without its notable costume theme parties and GC Orlando will bring themes that include Area 69, Fire and Ice, and ’80s prom. So make sure to pack up your costumes for eight different parties across nine dancefloors. And if getting hitched or celebrating an engagement are the memories you are looking forward to creating, they will have that available akin to previous years.
Groove Cruise founder Jason Beukema spoke about the risk of planning a cruise amid the ongoing pandemic. “Most people would say we are insane to relaunch a cruise right now. It reminds me back to the first GC charter in 2009 when there was absolutely no chance of failure,” he stated. “I would not succumb to the fear and take less risk and I won’t know. I trusted my intuition and let my heart and soul guide me and it’s never led me wrong. And the GCFAM deserves it. This cruise in 2022 is going to be our best and most impactful yet and I have zero doubts about that.”
If for any reason the ship does not set sail, like due to the ongoing pandemic, fans are guaranteed protection of their purchase through a policy they call “cruise with confidence,” which rolls over admission for the following year or credits a future cruise. Another alternative option is to secure travel insurance, “cancel for any reason.” However, keep in mind that option only refunds 50% of the purchase and is offered in some states.
Tickets are currently available to those who have previously attended or have signed up for pre-sale. While tickets are still up for grabs, it is close to selling out. On sale goes live on January 19, 2021, at 3 pm ET via their website, and pre-sale purchases have the opportunity of paying at a 10% discount. Stay tuned for more details, including the lineup, which will be arriving in the coming months!
