Beatport and DJcity’s Beatsource looks to influential, open-format DJs including Walshy Fire and ZHU to curate their VIP Crates playlist series.

Riding the wave of new updates to their website to increase the number of genres available and the acquisition of Loopmasters, Loopcloud, and Plugin Boutique, Beatport is now entering 2021 with even more news. Beatsource, their collaboration with DJcity that launched in 2019, will now feature a new playlist series centered around open-format DJs dubbed VIP Crates.

The VIP Crates playlists are available both as a download on the Beatsource website, as well as through Beatsource LINK which launched in the spring of 2020. These playlists are curated by some of the world’s top open-format DJs that include artists like ZHU, Lil Jon, Walshy Fire, Joel Corry, and more, with genres ranging from dance and hip-hop to pop and dancehall as these artists shine a light on the tracks that they’ve discovered and play in their sets.

Legendary DJ A-Trak, who is also a Beatsource board member, chimed in on the importance of this new playlist series. “VIP Crates is a perfect example of Beatsource’s brilliance. DJing is more than just keeping up with the newest releases and knowing the classics,” he said. “Every DJ has their own personal go-to’s, those tracks that never leave the crates even though they never charted. Weapons, tools. Being able to tap into that with a subscription is huge.”

The company also intends to continue the expansion throughout the rest of the year and into the future as well to highlight even more curated music. “The groundswell of support we’ve received from these enormously successful artists and DJs wanting to be a part of our initial rollout of VIP Crates has been amazing,” said Beatsource COO Edwin “DJ Phenom” Paredes. “We’re looking forward to adding more influential tastemakers to the VIP Crates mix in the coming months.”
