Inner City, Idris Elba, and Detroit Will Breathe deliver a message of unity through their profound music video for “We All Move Together.”

Take one listen to Inner City and Idris Elba’s track “We All Move Together” and there is no question that this production drips with the essence of unity born from one of the most emotionally charged events to occur in our lifetime; The death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020. On this day shockwaves were felt throughout the entire world. In response to this senseless and heartless murder, the Black Lives Matter movement would inspire protesters to spill out into the streets, demanding justice and an end to systemic racism and police brutality in the United States.

In order to make an impact during these troubled times, Inner City and Idris Elba partnered up with Detroit Will Breathe, a youth-led, militant organization that has accomplished some truly amazing things. This includes overturning the curfew that suppressed protesters, demanding justice for Priscilla Slater who was found dead in her jail cell, and gaining freedom for a 15-year-old who was sent to jail for not doing her homework. They also have offered a safe space for citizens to give testimony of brutality resulting in officer suspension and multiple investigations.

The music video for “We All Move Together” takes us to a passionate protest in the heart of Detroit where the Detroit Will Breathe organization shines as the focal point of this incredibly moving video. With gritty tech soaked beats and ferocious dance expressions, we are fueled to come together for the cause. It is impossible to not be incredibly moved by this purposeful and intense work of art as the BLM movement continues on.

Some thoughts from the creators of “We All Move Together”:

This song and music video will forever embody the spirit of momentum by the people. When we all move together change becomes inevitable.

Idris Elba

With the challenges in Michigan, the US, and further afield, specific to what we are facing with the BLM movement, we deeply felt that we wanted to release a culturally significant and impactful video that not only embodies the message of the track, but that also directly benefits the Detroit Will Breathe individuals and collectives on the frontline of the movement in the city. Our platform can shine global light on the amazing work they do, and it takes the message of the track to an even higher place. We All Move Together

Inner City

Detroit is rich in political and cultural experiences and expressions of liberation. From Motown Records, the Labor Movement, and Aretha Franklin, to the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, the 1967 Rebellion, and the birth of techno. We aspire to make Detroit once again a space where liberation is expressed and experienced in transformative ways. Kevin Saunderson did this along with thousands of Black Detroiters when he helped birth the global movement that techno has become. The techno scene embodied the intentions of Black Detroiters looking to free themselves from an oppressive environment. Today that fight for freedom continues.

Maria first fell in love with electronic music in the early 2000's when she heard a little tune called "Satisfaction" by Benny Benassi. Since then she has dived headfirst into the scene and is wildly passionate about the trance, techno, and house genres. Festival's like EDC, Dreamstate, and Dirtybird Campout hold the key to her soul and dance music will always and forever be a major part of her life.
