DiscoPennyLane Takes Us on a Magical Journey with New Mix

San Diego-based artist DiscoPennyLane shares her heart and soul with us through music with the kick-off mix for the This Is Home series!

Originally from Dallas, and now living in San Diego, the life of Tiffani Farrington, aka DiscoPennyLane, has always revolved around music whether through dancing, working, or just simply as a fan in the crowd. After experiencing some trauma in her life, learning to mix became a form of therapy for her and allowed her to express herself without reservations. She regularly crafts mixes that draw listeners deeper into their emotions and allow them to hone in on their vulnerabilities as a human being.

Although DiscoPennyLane loves to play to a crowd’s vibe, there’s a special energy around her curated mixes, and for our new series, This Is Home, she delivered just that. In a year that has presented an excruciating level of uncertainty, she set off to create a mix filled with love, forgiveness, and healing. Not only will it help those who tune in remember who they are, but also that coming together as a community is paramount.

When I recorded this set, it manifested into an expression of my musical journey through these unprecedented and intense times we are all struggling through and experiencing together, but in our own intimate ways. It begins with Gorgon City and Sofi Tukker’s “House Arrest” (which was my quarantine anthem) and includes many songs and artists that have impacted, influenced, and inspired me throughout this pandemic.

Like so many in our community, I turned to music as a way to cope, connect, stay (mostly) sane, and to heal. It reflects a lot of my deeply personal emotions… having to show up as a new artist (especially a female one) in a scene where the paradigm has shifted and nobody really knows what the future looks like.

I chose to include some messages about the important challenges we are facing together as one human collective… and I leave you with a message of love and hope… for change.. and for a world where we all can come together, recognize ourselves in our fellow humans, and consciously choose to treat each other better.
