Lollapalooza is taking their show from Grant Park to the digital realm for Lolla2020 with Kaskade, Run The Jewels, ZHU, YehMe2, and more!
Each summer, thousands of music lovers descend upon Chicago’s Grant Park to enjoy a weekend filled with top tier talent at Lollapalooza, but this year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the in-person festivities were postponed to 2021. Instead, the festival will be headed to YouTube for a digital edition dubbed Lolla2020 that will take place on the original dates for everyone to tune into from the comfort of their rave caves.
Hosted from July 30 to August 2, Lolla2020 is shaping up to be one of the biggest virtual events announced so far this year with a lineup that features a blend of classic sets, new performances, and other surprises for those who tunes in. Major names like Run The Jewels, Arcade Fire, Chance The Rapper, OutKast, Paul McCartney, and LCD Soundsystem stick out immediately, even if they’re past performances, but the lineup is filled to the brim with plenty more as well.
Bass music lovers will be thrilled to see Boombox Cartel, Alison Wonderland (Live Set), YehMe2, G Jones b2b Eprom, NGHTMRE, and WHIPPED CREAM take the virtual stage. Other stunners from the electronic music realm include Kaskade, CloZee, ZHU, Elohim, and Lido, to name a few while Louis The Child (Watching Paint Dry) and the Brownies & Lemonade showcase should be interesting experiences as well.
There will also be a bevy of special appearances throughout the course of the weekend at Lolla2020, as well as conversations with Chicago’s Mayor, Lori E. Lightfoot, Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, and legendary hip-hop artist LL COOL J. The virtual event is set to raise awareness and donations to organizations that include When We All Vote, the Equal Justice Initiative, and the Arts for Illinois Relief Fund to help give back to the local community.
