Porter Robinson has announced that the second single from his forthcoming album Nurture, “something comforting,” is due up for release!

Previously: Porter Robinson just revealed that his second single of the year, “something comforting” will be out in just one day’s time. The announcement came via his twitter account, in which he announced the new track along with three photos that are consistent with the nature-influenced aesthetic he’s going for with the album.
Just over a month ago, Porter announced that he would drop his sophomore album Nurture before the end of 2020. The news took the dance music world by storm as tastemakers and Porterfam rejoiced that new music was arriving from the mastermind behind iconic albums like Worlds. A day after the album announcement, Porter released the first track since 2016 titled “Get your Wish” which was met with an immediate buzz.
The track took his artistic style in a new direction, it’s likely that “something comforting” will do the same. On “Get your Wish,” Porter took charge of the vocals. He artificially raised the pitch of his voice to help himself sing freely about deeper themes. The music video also conveys themes of conquering anxiety and moving on from past strife, with Porter struggling to sift through mini tides of water. Likewise, the sound design throughout the track evokes a feeling of revitalization and jubilation.
Although we still await the official release of “something comfortable,” we’re excited to hear what Porter has in store. Given the new song’s title and general essence of Nurture, the new single will likely veer more on the melodious and tranquil side. The announcement did not specify any further details for the album itself nor any information about tour dates or appearances.
