The holidays are upon us, so what better way to get in the holiday spirit than by getting down to Major Lazer and Protoje’s “Christmas Trees”!

Even if you’re not hopping on a plane and fleeing the cold weather this holiday season, Major Lazer and Protoje‘s Christmas classic “Christmas Trees” is sure to transport you somewhere tropical. A rhythmic sleigh ride from start to finish, this throwback is well-worth a revisit!

Part of the 2016 Mad Decent Christmas compilation A Very Decent Christmas 4, “Christmas Trees” was an undeniable favorite. Apart from Major Lazer being one of the bigger names featured on the album, the song’s reggae-infused sound also made it an instant standout from the otherwise trap-heavy release that featured an array of tracks with a holiday twist.

“Christmas Trees” is the perfect holiday track for those looking to get down this season. Best listened to when paired with some spiked eggnog, it certainly won’t be a silent night when you throw this on. Make sure to give the track a listen below and get ready to move and groove to this hidden Major Lazer gem all the way through the New Year!

Major Lazer & Protoje – “Christmas Trees” Lyrics:

And oh what a time and a season
For love and greetings

Oh and you brought some gifts for me?
I see, Major Lazer

What a Merry Christmas would be
If me get a ganja stalk fia Christmas tree
And New Year’s Eve when them a count down
Me a count pounds a the brown brown
Weh just reach in town how me sound
What a Merry Christmas would be
If me get a ganja stalk fia Christmas tree
And New Year’s Eve when them a count down
Me a count pounds a the brown brown
Weh just reach in town how me sound

Mi make a vow you ago low mi marijuana
Love it from the day mi daddy show me marijuana
Hills a sainty a weh me a grow mi marijuana
So low mi marijuana please
Mi make a vow you ago low mi marijuana
Love it from the day mi daddy show me marijuana
Hills a sainty a weh me a grow mi marijuana
So low mi marijuana please

What a Merry Christmas would be
If me get a ganja stalk fia Christmas tree
And New Year’s Eve when them a count down
Me a count pounds a the brown brown
Weh just reach in town how me sound
What a Merry Christmas would be
If me get a ganja stalk fia Christmas tree
And New Year’s Eve when them a count down
Me a count pounds a the brown brown
Weh just reach in town how me sound

When the sen similla scent reach the senses
It kinda senseless to not see what the sense is in
Why we spend these $100’s, $50’s & $20’s
On trees growing for centuries
Make you can’t finish your sentences
And it seems weed has been in my genes
In my jeans I used to stash it in my teens
By any means though
When the greens grow from high grade weed stalks
That make you cease talk ease off
And flu by jack and him beanstalk though

What a Merry Christmas would be
If me get a ganja stalk fia Christmas tree
And New Year’s Eve when them a count down
Me a count pounds a the brown brown
Weh just reach in town how me sound
What a Merry Christmas would be
If me get a ganja stalk fia Christmas tree
And New Year’s Eve when them a count down
Me a count pounds a the brown brown
Weh just reach in town how me sound

Sydney Grant

Sydney attributes her love for music from her mom, who insisted on playing The Foo Fighters and The White Stripes rather than Kiss FM whenever she drove carpool and agreed to allow Sydney to attend Coachella in the eighth grade as long as she could go with her. That first festival only greater affirmed Sydney’s passion for the scene, but it was not until 2013 when she attended Swedish House Mafia’s One Last Tour concert in Los Angeles that she discovered electronic music. She was hooked instantly and has since attended a total of 23 festivals, with countless concerts in between. Sydney’s favorite artists include RL Grime, Jauz, Jai Wolf, Louis The Child, Slander, Bearson and Big Gigantic but she is constantly on the look out for new music and artists to dance to. When she’s not scouring the internet for new tracks or grooving at a concert, Sydney studies Journalism and Biology full-time at the University of Oregon.
