RL Grime just dropped his highly anticipated Halloween VIII mix filled with heavy beats and just in time for all the festivities!

Today marks the spookiest day of the year, and the day dance music fans can all exhale and exclaim “Finally!” because the coveted annual mix from RL Grime, Halloween VIII is out! Now eight years in, he continues to prove he’s one of the top dogs in the scene while effortlessly mixing in the hottest tracks from a variety of genres with ominous Halloween vibes all throughout for a full 61 minutes.

2019 has been yet another successful year for RL Grime with the debut of his new label, Sable Valley that has been paired with plenty of shows all over the country. Now, he’s added to that with his Halloween VIII mix that is strong from start to finish, mixing rap favorites with trap beats, surprise voice-overs, and throwing down monster IDs.

This year’s guest intro comes from the renowned American restaurateur and flavor town mastermind Guy Fieri. Fieri commends RL and signs off with arguably the quote of the year, “Peace, Love, and Taco Grease”. Then the mix cues “I Got 5 on It” by Lunitz, which many horror flick fans will recognize as the theme song from Jordan Peele’s Us.

In to the main part of the mix, RL Grime layers rap hits from icons like A$AP Rocky, ScHoolboy Q, Meek Mill, Kanye West, and Meg Thee Stallion over a smooth flow of heavy trap IDs, drum and bass, and other recognizable tracks. What makes Halloween VIII mix a stand-out hit is the dark beats and trap snares that ring beautifully. The song selection is on point for the mix as well. The rap layovers mash-up so well, you’d think they are original tracks. RL drops everything from Gesaffelstein’s “Pursuit” to Troyboi’s “Sensei”.

About halfway through the mix, he welcomes back RL Stein for another voice over. RL Stein had a notable quote of his own, proclaiming “Forward is the only path.” Is there any other way to describe his own influence on the scene and how he’s taken over the Halloween festivities with his mixes? Whether you’re going out, staying in, hosting guests, or dueling ghouls, make sure you tune in to Halloween VII.
