What was your first electronic music event?
TomorrowWorld 2015 in Georgia. I had no idea what to expect. I probably missed out on a lot of things I should’ve done or seen. But I had a blast… despite all the rain… and mud… and yuck. :P I will never forget that amazing experience!
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
I have been listing to EDM and Trance for a while, but only went to a club show or two before I met my friend Tiana. She found the TomorrowWorld event and showed me all of the cool stuff and she really hyped it up. I didn’t want to go by myself and she found a way to go. I give her all the credit for forcing me to dive off the deep end with festivals and the culture! Thanks, Tia!
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
The first time I saw Kaskade at EDC Las Vegas with my buddy Dominic. We made our way through the crowd towards the middle and just vibed with everyone around us. I got lost in the moment as Kaskade pretty much played everything I wanted him too. I felt like I belonged, I felt like nothing else mattered but being there in that moment with my friend and the crowd around us. We even got an awesome pic from the staff. Best moment ever!
What is your favorite festival or event?
EDC Las Vegas! 2019 will be my third year going and it nearly broke my heart when I had to miss 2017 for medical reasons.
However… I am trying to make it to Tomorrowland one of these years…
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
This is difficult… but I have to give it to Kaskade – “Disarm You”. I love the music and the lyrics speak to me on that personal level.
Who are your favorite artists?
Kaskade, Armin Van Buuren, Andrew Rayel, Gammer, Martin Garrix, Don Diablo, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Wasted Penguinz. Ok, I’ll keep it at 10. :P
What are your favorite genres?
Trance is my first love (looking at you Dreamstate!). Hardstyle keeps growing on me (Thanks again Tia) but I keep listening to different genres and expanding my horizons.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
I’m not sure. The Reddit Facebook folks know me for the EDCLV Countdown for now… but I feel at an event I am a rave dad. If you see me come say hi! We’ll exchange kandi, have a laugh, maybe dance together. But I am always the first person to help someone that looks like they could use a hand. Someone has to look out for some of you crazy kids!
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?
Day-to-day I take myself and most things way too seriously. Finding EDM and the rave culture helps me relax tremendously and I look forward to each event I am able to attend. I love the environment, I love the people (most of them), I love the music. It’s a nice reminder that we only get to live once. Need to stop every so often and enjoy it!
