Beloved electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL has announced that they’ll be premiering a short film directed by James Frost for track “Underwater” at Coachella this year!

Riding what has seemed to be an ever-building wave of success after the release of their album SOLACE last year, RÜFÜS DU SOL has shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon in 2019. While we’re still basking in the soundscape that the trio created during their essential mix and prepared ourselves for the upcoming shows at venues like Red Rocks, more news has surfaced today to give some extra excitement to their fans attending Coachella.

Today, RÜFÜS DU SOL announced that they’ll be premiering the 360 degree short film for their track “Underwater” onsite at Coachella in the gigantic HP Antarctic Dome. Directed by James Frost, who previously worked on music videos for artists like Radiohead and OK GO, this short film will highlight the many different layers of sonic bliss that the song brings with it along with the power of HP’s high-performance technology.

Clocking in at 11,000 square feet, the HP Antarctic Dome has become one of the top experiences that Coachella has offered its attendees over the course of both weekends. In the past, the projection dome offered a trippy visual journey paired with a soundtrack from ODESZA that left crowds stunned, this year they have a new trip to take with RÜFÜS DU SOL.

On Thursday, April 11, the short film for “Underwater” will be premiered at a special VIP event that includes a panel discussion and DJ set from the trio. After the premiere, the dome will be open to all festival attendees to check out throughout Coachella. Watch the preview for the short film below and read on for some insight from James Frost!

“RÜFÜS DU SOL and I have been trying to collaborate for a while, so when the opportunity arose to create the visual accompaniment to ‘Underwater’ for the HP Antarctic Dome at Coachella, I couldn’t think of a more perfect song and I knew we could create something magical. ‘Underwater’ is rich with layers, and the piece we’ve created immerses the audience visually and sonically in this expansive dome setting. I’m honored and thrilled not only to be asked to work on this, but also to have brought the piece to life with amazing graphic artists from around the world.”
