After FUTURECODE dropped their massive remix of the track at ASOT 900, let’s take it back to 2009 with a look at Claudia Cazacu feat Audrey Gallagher’s “Freefallin'”.
Earlier this year, Ben Gold and Omnia announced that they would be teaming up and creating music under a new alias named FUTURECODE. They shared that they would be playing their debut set at ASOT 900 in Utrecht and closing the mainstage. During this premiere, the duo unassumingly dropped an absolutely massive remix of a very familiar track I hadn’t heard in years, Claudia Cazacu and Audrey Gallagher‘s “Freefallin'”.
It’s not a surprise that they remixed this track, as even the original flows perfectly with the progressive style Ben Gold and Omnia both share. The similarities in style are uncanny as though the original was meant for them to create an updated version almost 10 years after it’s original release.
Romanian DJ Claudia Cazacu first began her DJ career around 2006 after discovering the nightlife and club scenes in London. She quickly became enamored with the scene and began her own label Couture in 2007. It was in 2009 when she teamed up with revered Irish vocalist Audrey Gallagher and released the beautiful track that is “Freefallin'”. Though she was well-revered in trance, released great tracks and even playing the well-intended but terribly executed A State of Pink Stage at ASOT 550, Claudia Cazacu eventually left the trance scene.
Nowadays you can find her playing more on the tech-house and techno side of the electronic music spectrum. Audrey, on the other hand, can still be found consistently belting out gorgeous lyrics for some of the top artists in the trance scene. Regardless of the fact that Claudia has moved on, her legacy still remains in the trance world. In Freefallin’ she slowly built up the melody and layered on Audrey’s angelic vocals in such a way that evokes pure emotion from anyone who listens.
