Listen to some of our favorite tunes from this week and past editions in our playlist and read on for more details on the tunes added below!

The Landing || Volume 094

cookie monsta elevate
Cookie Monsta drops massive tune “Elevate” on Circus Records.

When it comes to consistently good dubstep, Cookie Monsta has proven time and time again that he’s mastered the game. After catching both of his legendary sets at Lost Lands 2017 and 2018, the UK producer has been at the top of my list of favorite heavy bass artists. Combining artistic sound design with savage drops, Cookie Monsta never disappoints.

“Elevate” is his latest track released on Circus Records. It has the signature Cookie flair – grungey vibrational bass and slick basslines. As always, he maintains the perfect balance between heavy and vibey, placing intricate vocals and soothing soundscapes amidst colossal bass whomps. – Jayce

12th planet swamplex terrestrial
12th Planet brings the heat with “Let It Bang” feat. MACTurnup on his brand new Swamplex Terrestrial EP.

It was only a matter of time before one of the dons of dubstep released another heavy-hitting EP. 12th Planet is back with Swamplex Terrestrial, a five-track collection of disgustingly thick wubs and deliciously gross riddim. Our favorite track on the EP has to be “Let It Bang” – reminiscent of 12th’s trademark squelchy bass, the tune is an absolute beast.

Featuring a delayed drop that’ll stop you right in your tracks, 12th Planet snatches souls and breaks necks with every angry bass slap. Bust out your neckbraces and check out the rest of Swamplex Terrestrial today! – Jayce

Helix Remix - Slooze
Slooze provides the perfect twist on Flume’s standout track, “Helix”.

If you have yet to hear of Slooze, I suggest you take some time and listen to this guy’s catalog! He’s slowly yet surely making a name for himself with his distinctive production style. It’s dark and ominous but also energetic at the same time, plus the quality is fantastic!

On his newest track, he brings his mid-tempo, glitchy style to Flume’s track “Helix.” Now, it’s hard to remix or flip an already incredible track, but Slooze hits the nail right on the head. From start to finish, you can’t help but to be sucked into this vortex of a tune! -James

Storyteller - HaywyreGo on a sonic adventure with Haywyre’s “Storyteller”!

Haywyre continues to build the hype for his forthcoming six-part EP with the release of “Storyteller”. After hearing “Tell Me” last week I was curious to see if the EP would carry a funky theme throughout. Now, with the release of “Storyteller”, it’s easy to hear that Panorama:Discover is going to a masterpiece. “Tell Me” has a much more funky vibe to it, whereas “Storyteller” has a much more future bass sound. You can always count on getting that Haywyre flare on the piano and the talk box inherently keeps the track a little funky.

When the drop hits it’s an immediate head bobber and body shaker. Haywyre has created such a unique sound that I am impressed with each production he releases. When you listen to this one, I highly recommend putting it on blast because it bumps. Make sure to stay up on all Haywyre’s new releases because they’re only going to get better! – Zach

XX Vol 1 - Pinnacle Collective
Nicky Genesis keeps bass house alive with the groovy “No Sleep.”

Nicky Genesis might not be a household name, but she spun one of the best DJ sets I’ve ever seen. Cramped shoulder-to-shoulder into the tiny Kava Lounge in San Diego, CA, we watched, amazed, as she blew the doors off the place, filling the tiny dance floor with as much energy as a festival stage. I didn’t know she produced as well as spun, so color me surprised when her latest single was just as impressive as her DJing.

“No Sleep” is a modern bass house anthem with a classic vocal hook and a catchy drop that’s been stuck in my head for days. “No Sleep” is the first–and best song–off XX VOL. 1, a collection of all-female producers put out by Pinnacle Collective. Expertly sliding between big, wobbly synths and small, subtle grooves, the track knows just when to dive in and pull back to keep things interesting. Its use of the “We don’t need no sleep” sample is nothing new, but it’s unobtrusive and helps build an exciting verse, as always. With a release this strong, I can’t wait to see Nicky when she headlines Winter Wonderland here in San Diego–and to hear what she puts out next! – Erik

Felmax Sixth PathFelmax drops heavy-metal inspired banger, “Sixth Path”.

Venezuelan DJ and producer Felmax, brings this brooding track loaded with unrelenting reverb and sick drops. Typically residing in the electro/house space, this marks a fork in the road for Felmax’s sound. This release follows Felmax’s summer remix of Papa Roach‘s “Born for Greatness”, marking a definitive move to heavier material.

“Sixth Path” is bass-centric with aggressive vocals and a very furry/chunky vibe. Self-produced and released ahead of Felmax’s tour with top metal bands, Five Finger Death Punch and Breaking Benjamin, “Sixth Path” will undoubtedly be fire when played live at their shows! – Bill

Darius Syrossian "Danzer" Artwork
Darius Syrossian lights the dancefloor on fire with “Danzer”.

To hear Darius Syrossian say it in his own words, “It’s all House and Techno & I’m not interested in fads”–and if you give one of his records a spin, you can hear for yourself that he means it. With roots in the underground and now with a successful brand with this DO NOT SLEEP parties that have taken Ibiza by storm, Syrossian continues to bring the heat with each and every set and release, and that is certainly true of his newest track, “Danzer”, out now on Hot Creations.

With a rolling bassline, a hypnotic vocal, and a synth line that calls to mind all the best of underground house in the 90’s, “Danzer” was hailed by many as one of the hottest tunes of the summer, and we’re thrilled to see it finally get its release date. Grab a good pair of headphones and turn up the volume–you won’t be disappointed. – Erin

Be Your Sound (Ilan Bluestone Remix)Ilan Bluestone puts his spin on classic tune “Be Your Sound”!

When you think about classic tunes in the vocal trance world, it is hard to not bring Cosmic Gate’s “Be Your Sound” into the discussion. One of the most powerful tunes the duo released, it is a beloved track of trance family members all over the world. Now, Anjuna-favorite Ilan Bluestone has put his spin on the tune and given it a solid update that we just simply can’t get enough of.

Teased for us during his ABGT300 set, fans couldn’t wait to see the official release of this remix that masterfully reworks Emma Hewitt’s vocals with new drum and synth work that will send you off to another planet. This tune is a must-listen for anyone who has been soaking up the sounds coming from Ilan’s studio this year.
